How to Get Korean Glass Skin: Home Habits vs Dermatology Treatment
A Seoul dermatologist on what "boiled-egg" skin really is, the three habits that matter at home, and when pores and texture need treatment instead.
How to get Korean glass skin: what are you aiming for?
Hello, I'm Dr. Won Sin Lee, a board-certified dermatologist and chief director at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul. I completed my residency and board certification in dermatology at Asan Medical Center, where I am now an adjunct professor of dermatology. Patients often ask me how to get Korean glass skin, and this article is based on my YouTube video from October 2025 above.
In Korean we call it "boiled-egg skin": pores you can barely see, no visible flakes or bumps, and a smooth, soft texture. How to get Korean glass skin comes down to two things: daily habits that stop the damage, and dermatology treatment once pores and texture have already changed.
It helps to know why skin loses that look. As we age, collagen decreases, firmness drops and pores widen with it. Oil and dead skin cells build up at the same time, which creates the uneven, bumpy texture that makeup sits on.
Which daily habits matter most for glass skin?
Lifestyle comes first. Many women scrub hard to get makeup off. Doing that once or twice is fine, but removing makeup roughly every day irritates the skin, triggers flaking and inflammation, and eventually makes the texture rough and bumpy.
- Gentle cleansing: don't rub; use a soft cleansing foam and rinse lightly with lukewarm water.
- Enough water: hydration is the most important thing for skin.
- Enough sleep: skin that has been stressed all day needs time to recover overnight.
Those three habits are the foundation. No treatment holds up well on skin that is being irritated twice a day.
How often should you exfoliate at home?
Light exfoliation and moisturizing are the home-care steps I recommend. Removing dead skin too often becomes irritation in itself, so I suggest gentle exfoliation about once a week.
After exfoliating, fill the moisture barrier back in with a serum or cream. Products with niacinamide or retinol can help a lot with texture. If you flake easily or your makeup lifts, read my article on aqua peel and exfoliation first, because flaking is often a barrier problem rather than too little exfoliation.
Pore Reduction
- What it is
- Fractional Picosecond Laser Treatment that restores dermal elasticity so enlarged pores tighten from underneath, with Genius RF and Winergy added where the nose or cheeks need extra tightening.
- How it works
- Rather than resurfacing, the fractional picosecond laser changes the structure of the dermis to help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores. The epidermis is spared, so it suits skin that is sensitive to heat.
- Sessions
- Set by the dermatologist at consultation, based on your pores and texture.
- Recovery
- Confirmed at consultation. If Genius RF is added, you can generally wash your face gently and resume routine activities the same day; skip scrubs for 2–3 weeks.
- Price
- Confirmed at consultation (₩, VAT excluded).
Why patients fly in for it
- A board-certified dermatologist chooses the device and energy for your skin.
- Pore, texture, tone and firmness treatments are all planned in one clinic.
- Consultations are available in English.
Not sure whether your pores, tone or firmness is the bigger issue? Send a makeup-free photo and your dates on WhatsApp.
Message on WhatsAppWhen does glass skin need a dermatologist?
When pores have already widened and the texture has deepened, home care has a limit. That is when treatment at a dermatology clinic helps, and the right one depends on what your skin needs:
- Rough texture and enlarged pores: a light fractional laser or RF microneedling. Too strong, and these can cause dryness and flaking; at the right energy they support regeneration and hydration, so the skin calms and smooths quickly.
- Dullness from scattered spots: a brightening laser such as pico toning helps the skin look clearer.
- Loss of firmness: radiofrequency such as Thermage treats without creating wounds, raising firmness, reducing pores and helping prevent aging.
- Alongside any of these: a skin booster such as Rejuran adds immediate hydration and supports regeneration.
At WELLS, pore reduction starts with a fractional picosecond laser that changes the structure of the dermis instead of resurfacing it, so it suits heat-sensitive skin. Genius RF and Winergy are added where the nose or cheeks need more tightening. For tone, we use pico toning; for hydration, Rejuran HB+, usually four sessions at 2–3 week intervals.
How do you plan glass skin treatment around a Seoul trip?
Decide what your skin needs most before you book: pores and texture, tone, or firmness. A clear, makeup-free photo in daylight tells the dermatologist a lot. Send it on WhatsApp with your travel dates, and we reply in English with options; the plan and price are confirmed at the clinic.
Some treatments need a series, so a single short trip may cover the first session and the rest on a return visit. If you are weighing risks and recovery days, see korea glass skin treatment.
Skin is partly what you are born with, but consistent care and the right treatment can take it a long way. Results vary from person to person, and your plan is decided in consultation with your dermatologist.

How to get Korean glass skin without treatment?
Cleanse gently with lukewarm water, drink enough water, sleep well, exfoliate lightly about once a week and moisturize afterwards. Niacinamide or retinol products can help texture. Deep pores and texture usually need treatment.
Is exfoliating every day good for glass skin?
No. Removing dead skin too often irritates the skin. Dr. Lee suggests gentle exfoliation about once a week, followed by a serum or cream.
Which treatment helps enlarged pores?
A light fractional laser or RF microneedling at the right energy. At WELLS, pore reduction uses a fractional picosecond laser, with Genius RF or Winergy added for the nose or cheeks.
Can a skin booster be combined with laser treatment?
Yes. A skin booster such as Rejuran adds immediate hydration and supports regeneration alongside lasers or RF. The dermatologist plans the order.
How much does it cost at WELLS?
Pore reduction is priced at consultation in Korean won, excluding VAT, once the dermatologist has chosen the combination for your skin.
This article explains general medical information from the video. It is not a diagnosis; results vary by person and are decided in consultation.
