Skin Boosters & Rejuran

korea glass skin treatment with reactive or acne-prone skin: what can go wrong

A korea glass skin treatment in Seoul usually means Rejuran HB+ skin booster injections over four sessions. Here are the side effects, who should wait, and what one trip can realistically start.

What a glass skin treatment in Seoul actually involves

When people search “korea glass skin treatment”, what they usually end up booking is an injectable skin booster, most often Rejuran HB+, sometimes combined with skin neuromodulator, that improves hydration, fine lines and texture over a course of sessions. No clinic can give you glass skin in one appointment. If you're worried the injections will leave your face bumpy, bruised or broken out on the day you fly home, that is the thing to plan around, and most of it can be planned around. At WELLS a board-certified dermatologist examines your skin and gives the injections, and the recommended course of Rejuran HB+ is four sessions, two to three weeks apart.

If there's a date you can't look bruised for, a wedding or the flight itself, send a photo taken in daylight without makeup on WhatsApp together with that date, and ask whether your timing leaves enough room. Clear photos and travel dates are what the team uses to suggest options and timing before you arrive.

“Glass skin” describes a look: skin that reflects light evenly because its surface is smooth, well hydrated and even in tone. A spa “Korean glass facial” works on the surface with cleansing, exfoliation and masks, and the glow usually fades within days. Clinic treatments work inside the skin, which is why they take longer to show and why they carry medical risks a facial doesn't.

Rejuran HB+ is a salmon-derived polynucleotide (PN) with added hyaluronic acid and lidocaine. PN improves the skin's internal environment and helps restore its structure, increasing elasticity in the epidermis and dermis and smoothing fine lines and texture, while the hyaluronic acid strengthens hydration. At WELLS, Rejuran Tox pairs it with skin neuromodulator in the same session. Tiny doses of neuromodulator placed just under the surface are generally used to soften fine lines, refine the look of pores and reduce oiliness.

The research is encouraging and still young. A skin booster improves the conditions for glass skin; it doesn't paint it on.

Risks and side effects to know

Most of what goes wrong after skin boosters is short-lived, but you should know it before you book. Each injection point leaves a small raised bump that usually flattens within a day or two. Redness, mild swelling and pinpoint bruises are common, and a bruise can take a week or more to fade, which is the part that matters on a short trip.

Less often, injection points become infected, small lumps last longer than expected, or an acne flare or cold sore appears in the days after. Because the PN in Rejuran comes from salmon, tell the dermatologist about any fish allergy or past reaction to injectables. With skin smoothing injection, spread into a nearby muscle can make the smile or forehead feel slightly stiff for a few weeks until it wears off.

Pigment is the risk people with medium or darker skin should think about most. DermNet explains that any inflammation or injury to the skin can leave darker patches, called postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, and that this is more common in darker skin types.

Results and recovery differ from person to person, and whether a booster suits your skin at all is decided at the in-person exam. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises medical travelers to keep copies of their records and plan follow-up care before leaving. Write down what was injected and when, and if redness spreads or a lump becomes painful at home, see a doctor there promptly.

When would I tell you to wait or skip it?

A glass-skin booster works on skin that is calm. If something else is driving the dullness, redness or rough texture, injecting a booster on top treats the wrong thing first.

Acne has its own order of treatment, set out in acne treatment in Seoul and the order that works. Redness from rosacea or broken capillaries is a job for vascular lasers for rosacea and capillaries, and because the American Academy of Dermatology notes that sunlight can darken melasma, why melasma is treated cautiously is worth reading before any tone treatment. If you aren't sure what your dark spots are, diagnosing hyperpigmentation before choosing a laser walks through the types.

If you can't tell whether your redness or dark patches count, take one photo of your whole face relaxed and one close-up of the area, both in daylight, and send them on WhatsApp with a note on how long it has been there and what you've already tried on it.

Can one trip to Seoul be enough?

Four sessions two to three weeks apart add up to six weeks or more, so a one-week trip covers the first session. One session is a start, and the full course needs either a longer stay or return visits to Seoul. If you're flying in from North America or Europe, decide before you book whether you're coming for one session or planning a course, because that changes how you should judge the result.

The clinic is open weekdays 10:00 to 20:00 and Saturdays 10:00 to 17:00, with lunch from 13:00 to 14:00, and is closed on Sundays and public holidays. Booking your injections early in the trip, instead of the day before your flight, gives bumps and bruises time to settle while you're still in Seoul. Typical aftercare for skin boosters is to keep the face clean and skip makeup, saunas and hard workouts for a short time; ask how long that applies to your treatment.

Season matters if a laser is part of the plan. Autumn and winter usually make pigment and laser treatment easier, because sun exposure is what most often darkens pigment again afterwards. If you can only come in summer, plan on broad-spectrum SPF 30+, a hat and shade.

What a clinic can't do for glass skin

If you search “korea glass skin treatment” hoping for pores that vanish, the answer is that they won't. Enlarged pores can look finer after skin smoothing injection and better hydration, but their size is partly set by genes and oil production. Depressed acne scars are a separate problem that boosters don't fill; planning acne scar treatment around a Seoul trip covers the tools for those.

A lot of glass skin is built at home. Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen protects the evenness of your tone, a moisturizer suited to your skin keeps the surface smooth, and a mild cleanser is enough. No face wash creates glass skin by itself, and over-exfoliating to chase shine tends to leave skin red and reactive.

That is also the answer to how to get Korean glass skin at home. For many people with healthy skin, a steady routine of this kind is the place to start, and a booster is something to add later if texture and hydration still fall short.

Why see a dermatologist before a skin booster?

Work done by non-specialists sometimes leaves marks that take longer to resolve, so if you're unsure, bring your skin to a dermatologist first. Before any korea glass skin treatment, the question is what your skin needs, and that starts with a diagnosis.

Questions people ask

Before you message us

Do skin booster injections hurt?

You'll feel a series of small needle pricks. Rejuran HB+ contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, which lowers post-injection pain compared with Rejuran Healer when measured on a standard pain scale.

Is a Korean glass skin facial at a spa the same as a clinic treatment?

No. A spa facial cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates the surface, and the glow usually lasts days. A clinic skin booster is an injection given by a doctor that works inside the skin over several sessions and carries medical risks such as bruising and infection.

How many Rejuran HB+ sessions are recommended?

Four sessions at two- to three-week intervals are recommended. On a one-week trip you'll usually fit one session, so plan whether you want a start or a full course before you book.

I get cold sores. Can I still have injections around the mouth?

Tell the dermatologist before treatment. Facial injections can trigger a cold sore in people who carry the virus, and some doctors suggest preventive medicine for those patients.

Will a skin booster fade melasma or dark spots?

Not on its own. Boosters work on hydration, elasticity and texture, while melasma and other pigment need a diagnosis first, sun protection and, where suitable, a pigment treatment chosen for that type.

Results and recovery vary by individual. Every treatment carries possible side effects, which are explained at the consultation. Prices are in Korean won, excluding 10% VAT, and confirmed at your consultation. This article is general information from the clinic, not a diagnosis.
