Korean Non Surgical Face Lift: My EMFACE Results After 10 Sessions
After ten weekly EMFACE sessions on his own face, Dr. Lee explains what changed, who benefits most and who should choose a different lift.
Does a Korean non surgical face lift with EMFACE really work?
Hello, I'm Dr. Won Sin Lee, a board-certified dermatologist and Chief Director at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul. I trained at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, where I am an adjunct professor of dermatology. Patients ask me whether a Korean non surgical face lift with EMFACE is worth it, so I tried it on my own face; this article is based on my YouTube video from September 2026 above, recorded at my tenth and final weekly session.
My verdict: it worked for me, and I would score it eight or above out of ten, but only because I kept going. The change shows in the overall shape of the face, especially the midface and the brow, and it builds over repeated sessions rather than after one. Who you are matters too, which I explain below.
Why EMFACE changes the midface most
EMFACE works mainly on two groups of muscles: the one that lifts the brows, and the ones we use to smile, which run up from the upper lip and hold the face against gravity. Stronger brow muscles open the eyes and raise the brow; stronger smile muscles support the cheek.
With age, skin loses elasticity and muscles lose strength. From the mid-40s the groove under the cheek tends to deepen and the face seems to slide downward. EMFACE doesn't shorten the distance from eye to mouth, but as the muscles and the skin over them firm up, that sagging lifts and tucks in. That is why people describe a smaller-looking midface.
- Asymmetry: each cheek has its own patch, and the forehead patch can run a different intensity on each side, so a lower side can be treated more strongly.
- Fine lines: the grimacing during the 20 minutes is fast contraction and release, not a held frown, so it doesn't create lines. The radiofrequency in the device also encourages collagen.
- Forehead lines: many people raise their brows without noticing because the eyelids open less easily. When the forehead muscle holds the brow up, that habit eases, and so does the movement that creates the lines.
Who is a Korean non surgical face lift with EMFACE right for?
Satisfaction splits because faces differ. EMFACE tends to work better on skin of medium or thinner thickness and a face without much fat. A fuller face with thick skin has more tissue to lift, so the change may be smaller or less obvious.
- Brows that move easily when you touch them tend to respond more; brows that feel firmly fixed respond less.
- The forehead varies less between people, because it is rarely thick or fatty.
- For a fuller face with thick skin, focused ultrasound such as Ultherapy Prime may suit better.
- The patches cover the forehead and both cheeks. An under-eye patch exists, but it is still awaiting approval in Korea.

Message on WhatsAppWhat changed on my face after 10 sessions
Until my mid-40s I thought I'd escaped aging; into my 50s I noticed my brow tail drooping and the area above my eyes sinking. After the course, that hollow looks softer and my eyes look brighter. The eyes give away age more than the skin does, and they are hard to improve, so that was the change I valued most.
I also have Thermage about once a year. Thermage is better for skin texture and quality; EMFACE changed the overall impression of the face, with the cheek groove softening and the midface looking fuller and lifted. They do different jobs.
What fell short is the commitment. Like exercise, one or two sessions won't transform you; I would plan at least five in a row, and the effect fades if you stop. I now plan a session about once a month to keep it, rather than waiting until things slip. The price stays relatively high because the face and back patches are single-use.
How EMFACE fits a trip to Seoul
A weekly course does not fit a short trip, so be realistic about how many sessions you can attend. On a single visit, EMFACE is part of our 3X Upper Face Lifting: Eye Thermage 450 shots, EMFACE two passes over 40 minutes and Eye Ultherapy 50 shots, ₩2,500,000 (VAT excluded). The price of an EMFACE course on its own is confirmed at consultation.
For how a single session works and feels, see my article on EMFACE in Korea, and the full range is on our lifting and anti-aging page. Send a photo and your travel dates on WhatsApp; results vary from person to person, and the plan is set at consultation.

Message on WhatsAppQuestions about this video
How many sessions does a Korean non surgical face lift with EMFACE need?
Dr. Lee recommends at least five sessions in a row, then regular top-ups; he had ten weekly sessions and now plans about one a month to maintain the result.
Can EMFACE fix facial asymmetry?
It can help. The cheek patches are separate and the forehead intensity can be set differently on each side, so a lower side can be treated more strongly.
Does making faces during EMFACE cause wrinkles?
No. The movement is fast contraction and release over 20 minutes, not a held expression, and the radiofrequency also encourages collagen.
Who may not see much change?
People with a fuller face and thick skin, or brows that feel firmly fixed. For them, focused ultrasound such as Ultherapy may suit better.
This article explains general medical information from the video. It is not a diagnosis; results vary by person and are decided in consultation.
