Exam first, threads second, flight last: timing a Korea thread lift
A Korea thread lift takes about 20 to 60 minutes, but the trip is planned around what follows: no saunas for two weeks and skin that keeps firming over 2 to 4 weeks, so leave buffer days and start a month before any event.

How many days does a Korea thread lift trip need?
Wondering how a Korea thread lift fits into a short trip without clashing with your flight or an event back home? Read on before you book a ticket or a treatment date.
After reading you will know how many days to stay, which season is easier, what the two weeks afterwards look like and what decides the cost, so you can tell whether your dates work.
I'm Dr. Won Woo Choi, Medical Director · M.D., Ph.D. at WELL'S Dermatology & Medical SPA in Apgujeong, which is open Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays and holidays, so that shapes your calendar. I wrote this because people often plan around the procedure, which is short, and overlook the weeks that follow. The short answer: the treatment itself takes about 20 to 60 minutes, but keep a buffer day before your flight and no saunas for two weeks.

Send your photos and travel dates on WhatsAppA workable minimum is three days in Seoul: one to arrive, one for the exam and treatment, and one buffer day before you fly. Longer is easier. The threads take under an hour; the extra days exist so early swelling can settle a little and any concern can be looked at while you're still near the clinic.
Here are two common shapes, side by side:
| Long weekend (4 days) | One-week trip | |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Land, check in | Land, check in |
| Day 2 | Consultation and 3D analysis; treatment timing set with the dermatologist | Consultation early in the week |
| Day 3 | Buffer day, sightseeing without saunas | Treatment, then back to the hotel |
| Day 4 | Fly home | Sightseeing with the sauna rule in mind |
| What you give up | Room to rethink the plan or space treatments | Nothing much, apart from the jjimjilbang |
The clinic is on the 8th floor of the Apgujeong Building, 842 Nonhyeon-ro, Gangnam-gu, about five minutes on foot from Apgujeong Station Exit 3 on Line 3 (NH Bank is on the ground floor). From Incheon, airport limousine bus 6006 stops at Apgujeong Station, or you can take the AREX train into Seoul and change to Line 3. Check current timetables before you fly. WELLS has no partner hotels, so you book your own stay; Andaz Seoul Gangnam sits on the same street.
The clinic calendar matters more than the airline calendar
WELLS is open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 20:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 17:00, with lunch from 13:00 to 14:00. Sundays and public holidays are closed. That line decides most weekend plans: land on Saturday night and the earliest you can be seen is Monday.

Weekday evenings help. A morning arrival at Incheon still leaves time to reach Apgujeong before 20:00, though a first visit is easier when you aren't rushing straight off a long-haul flight. Korea's big holidays, Seollal (Lunar New Year) and Chuseok, close most clinics for several days in a row, so check the dates before you buy a ticket for late January, February, September or October.
Which season suits a thread lift in Seoul?
No season is medically required. The season changes how easy the two weeks after the procedure are to live with, and that matters more than the weather on treatment day.
Seoul's summer is hot and humid, with a rainy season from late June into July. Heavy sweating, long hot days of walking and the pull of air-conditioned cafés followed by sticky streets don't make threads fail, but they make the first days less pleasant, and summer trips are where the sauna rule is hardest to keep. If a jjimjilbang (Korean bathhouse and sauna) day is on your list, put it before the treatment, not after.
Autumn and winter tend to be easier for a different reason: you're dressed in layers, you spend less time sweating outdoors, and a scarf or a hat hides early bruising without looking odd. Spring sits in between. Book around your real holiday, then fit the sauna rule into it.
What happens in the two weeks after a thread lift?
Avoid saunas for two weeks. Swelling, some bruising and a feeling of tightness are commonly reported in the first days and usually ease as the tissue settles.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons describes the thread lift as a minimally invasive option with a shorter recovery than a surgical facelift, which is why it can fit a trip. Minimally invasive still means needles and threads under the skin, though, so the first days deserve some care: sleep without pressing the treated side into the pillow, keep big facial movements modest, and leave heat-heavy plans for later.
By the end of week two, the sauna restriction ends. That is the point most people mean when they search "2 weeks after thread lift": the main aftercare rule is done, while the change in skin quality is still building.

Send your photos and travel dates on WhatsAppTiming it before a wedding, reunion or photos
Count back at least four weeks from the event. That covers the 2 to 4 weeks over which tone and elasticity improve, and it keeps any early bruising well away from the photographs.
The common mistake is the opposite: booking a Korea thread lift in the final week before a big day because that's when the trip happens to fall. If the trip and the event are close together, threads may not be the right first step on this visit, and that is worth knowing before you plan around it. A first-time thread lift also deserves more margin than a repeat one, because you don't yet know how your own face responds.
Say you land in Seoul on a Thursday evening, have a consultation on Friday morning, and a wedding is five weeks away. I would first look at your skin and how much sagging you actually have, and decide whether threads suit you at all. If they do, I would not schedule the treatment for your last day. You would keep a buffer day before the flight, skip saunas for two weeks, and still have a few weeks of settling before the photographs. If the wedding were only ten days away, I would suggest waiting, because the timing would be too tight to be comfortable.
Can you combine threads with Ultherapy, Thermage or a collagen injectable on one trip?
Sometimes, yes, but the order and spacing are decided at consultation, not in advance. Threads, energy devices and injectables act at different layers, so the plan depends on what your face needs most.
WELLS's own treatment notes describe a collagen-stimulating PLLA injectable and thread lifting as complementary: threads reposition tissue immediately, while the injectable stimulates your own collagen and its effect builds over the following months rather than all at once. For a traveler, that means the threads show quickly and the injectable part shows later, at home.
If you're also weighing an energy device, the Ultherapy trip guide walks through that visit, and microneedle RF options in Seoul covers a different route to firmer skin. The treatment page for thread lifting at WELLS lists what is used: only genuine, KFDA-approved threads, placed by a dermatologist. All lifting options are on the WELLS Dermatology home page.
If you searched "PDO thread lift Korea", PDO (polydioxanone) is one thread material; it is absorbable and dissolves over time, and other absorbable materials are also used for lifting. WELLS's treatment page states only that genuine, KFDA-approved threads are used, so ask at consultation which type is planned for your face.
What decides the cost of a Korea thread lift?
The cost depends on how much work your face needs, not on a single fixed item. The main factors are the type and number of threads, which areas are treated (midface, jawline, or more than one), and whether the plan adds anything else. Your skin and the degree of sagging also matter, because mild sagging and looser skin call for different plans. Comfort measures, how many days you can stay in Korea and any follow-up visit change the plan as well. To get the figure for your own case, send a clear front-facing photo on WhatsApp and ask what a plan would involve.
Risks, and the people who should wait
Thread lifts carry risks: bruising and swelling, asymmetry, dimpling or puckering, a thread that can be felt or seen, infection, and a thread working its way toward the surface. They are the reason the plan matters.
The ASPS page on facelift safety is also worth a look if you're unsure whether your degree of sagging is better served by surgery; heavy, loose skin is often beyond what threads can lift.
Some people should wait or rethink the timing:
- pregnancy, or planning a pregnancy soon
- an active skin infection or flare in the area to be treated
- recent filler, threads or other lifting in the same area (tell the dermatologist the product and date)
- blood-thinning medication or supplements, which raise bruising risk; never stop a prescribed drug without your own doctor's advice
- an event less than a month away
The travel part adds one more consideration. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises people who go abroad for care to keep copies of their records and plan follow-up at home. Before you leave Seoul, keep a note of what was placed and where, so a doctor at home knows what they're looking at if you ever need one.

Send your photos and travel dates on WhatsAppWhat to send before you book a flight
Clear photos and your travel dates are enough for a first look. Send front and both side views of your face in daylight, without makeup or filters, plus a close-up of the area that bothers you, whether that's the jawline, the jowls or the neck.
Add your flight dates, any previous fillers, threads or lifting with product and date, your medications and allergies, and note if you're pregnant or have a respiratory condition, panic disorder or vitamin B12 deficiency, which affect whether Air NOX can be used.
The plan itself is confirmed only after a dermatologist examines you in Seoul, and you'll talk to a board-certified dermatologist. I completed my residency and board certification at Seoul National University Hospital, where I'm an adjunct professor in the Department of Dermatology. WELLS was established in 2008, and its only location is in Apgujeong.
If your dates are fixed and you're not sure the two-week window fits, send one clear front-facing photo, your arrival and flight dates, and the date of any event on WhatsApp. Then ask one question: is a thread lift suitable for me, and can it fit these dates? One photo is enough to start, and you can ask before you book a ticket or anything else.

What is a thread lift?
A thread lift places fine threads under the skin to reposition sagging tissue without surgery. At WELLS only genuine, KFDA-approved threads are used, and a dermatologist plans their length, direction and depth for your skin. The procedure takes about 20 to 60 minutes.
How long does a thread lift last?
According to WELLS's treatment information, results last longer than filler and more than a year, with skin tone and elasticity improving over the first 2 to 4 weeks. How long it lasts for you depends on your skin, your degree of sagging and the plan agreed at consultation.
Can threads treat the chin, jowls or neck?
Thread lifting is aimed at sagging, and the jawline and jowls are common concerns people bring. Whether your chin, jowl or neck area suits threads, or would respond better to another option, is decided at the in-person exam. Photos of the area help the first discussion.
Is a nose thread lift offered?
WELLS lists thread lifting as a lifting treatment for facial sagging. Nose threads are not part of that listing, so ask before planning a trip around them.
Will I be asleep during a thread lift in Seoul?
WELLS does not use unnecessary sleep sedation. It is not suitable in early pregnancy, with respiratory conditions, panic disorder or vitamin B12 deficiency.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Every treatment carries possible side effects, which are explained at the consultation. Prices are in Korean won, excluding 10% VAT, and confirmed at your consultation. This article is general information from the clinic, not a diagnosis.
