The one-treatment myth behind v lift korea, and who each option suits
v lift korea usually means a non-surgical plan for a narrower lower face: threads, jaw-muscle neuromodulator, fat reduction or lifting devices. Which one fits comes down to whether muscle, fat, sagging or bone widens your jaw.

Why does a lower face look wide in the first place?
When people search “v lift korea”, they usually mean a non-surgical plan to make the lower face look narrower and more lifted. That plan is built from threads, jaw-muscle injections, fat reduction under the chin or energy-based tightening, and which ones you need depends on what is making your jaw look wide. If a surgeon at home has already told you only a facelift would help, you're probably wondering whether a Korean V lift is a real alternative or a softer word for a smaller result. At WELLS, a dermatologist does the consultation and the treatment, and your face is assessed with 3D analysis before any plan is made.
If you'd like a sense of which pattern your face follows before you book flights, send a front photo and both side views on WhatsApp, taken in daylight without filters, together with your travel dates. Add the one question you most want answered, such as whether your jawline is mostly muscle, fat or loose skin.

Send your jaw photos and travel dates on WhatsAppTwo faces can look equally square in a selfie and be square for different reasons. Conditions that look alike can have different causes, and the cause decides the treatment, so one “V lift” recipe applied to every face is the wrong place to start. Much of what turns up online under “v lift korea” blends four separate problems, and most people have more than one of them.
| What widens the jaw | How it tends to look | What usually addresses it |
|---|---|---|
| A large masseter (chewing muscle) | Width at the jaw angle that hardens when you clench | Neuromodulator to slim the muscle |
| Fat under the chin and along the jaw | A soft, full line from chin to neck | Fat reduction, such as InMode Mini FX |
| Loose, descending tissue | Jowls and a blurred jawline that deepen with age | Thread lift, focused ultrasound, RF tightening |
| Bone shape | Width that stays when you relax and when you lose weight | No injection, thread or device changes it |
Muscle is the part people underestimate. If you clench at night or chew gum often, the masseter can set the width of your whole lower face, and threads pulled over a bulky muscle do little for it. At WELLS, neuromodulator is used to slim enlarged muscles, and the change usually appears gradually over several weeks. It's the same drug class used for neuromodulator treatment of excessive sweating, placed in a different muscle at a different dose.
Fat is the second piece. InMode's Mini FX mode is designed to reduce fat under the chin, and its Forma mode tightens skin with multipolar RF; how that fits a short stay is covered in InMode in Seoul and how to plan the visit. Bone is the firm limit. If your jaw is wide because of its shape, that conversation belongs with a facial surgeon.
Thread lift for a V line: how it works and where it stops
A thread lift places fine threads under the skin along planned lines so that soft tissue is lifted and held higher. At WELLS only genuine, KFDA-approved threads are used, placed by a dermatologist. Thread length, direction and depth are tailored to your skin thickness and degree of sagging, with the aim of minimizing dimpling.

The procedure takes around 20 to 60 minutes and involves no surgery. The lift is visible right after treatment, skin tone and elasticity keep improving over the following 2 to 4 weeks, and the result lasts more than a year, longer than filler. You'll need to avoid saunas for two weeks afterwards.
People often ask for a “PDO thread lift”, a “chin thread lift” or “fox eye” threads by name. PDO is one of several dissolvable thread materials, and the jaw and chin are common places for threads, yet the label tells you little about the plan itself. Before you agree to anything, ask which material is being used, how many threads, and in which direction they will pull.
Here is where threads stop. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons describes the thread lift as a less invasive procedure with more modest results than a surgical facelift, and the mechanism explains why: threads reposition tissue, but they don't remove excess skin.
For tightening without threads, focused ultrasound reaches the deeper supporting layers; how to choose an Ultherapy clinic in Korea is explained separately, as is planning Thermage in Seoul around your flights. Genius RF microneedling places energy where collagen is made and is used for elasticity and the jawline, which is why microneedle RF options in Seoul can sit alongside threads when loose skin comes with enlarged pores.
Who tends to suit it, and who should wait?
You're more likely to be pleased if your jawline has softened without dropping far, if part of the width comes from muscle or a small pocket of fat, and if you'd be happy with a change friends describe as “rested”. Those are the faces where a combined plan of threads, neuromodulator or fat reduction moves the outline you see in photos.
Some situations call for waiting. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, neuromodulator injections are usually postponed. An active infection or acne flare along the jaw should settle first, and if you take blood-thinning medication or bruise easily, say so at booking, because threads and injections can bruise more. If you've had filler or threads in the lower face before, the product and the date matter to the plan.
Device lifting at WELLS is done awake with Air NOX, and Air NOX is not suitable in early pregnancy or with respiratory conditions, panic disorder or vitamin B12 deficiency. And if what you want is the change a facelift gives, a non-surgical plan will leave you disappointed, however carefully it is done.
A side photo of your jaw clenched, next to one with it relaxed, shows more about the muscle than any description can. Send those two photos on WhatsApp, and if you've had filler or threads before, add the product name and the date to the same message.

After threads, tightness, mild swelling and some bruising are common for the first several days, and many people notice small irregularities that settle as the tissue relaxes. Wide mouth movements and pressing on the face are usually discouraged early on. The sauna rule runs for two weeks, which matters if your trip includes a jjimjilbang.
Neuromodulator for the masseter works on a slower clock. You'll most likely be home before the slimming shows fully, so judge it a month or more after the injection. The skin-quality part of a thread lift also keeps developing over 2 to 4 weeks, which means the face you see on the flight home is an early version.
The clinic's hours shape your calendar: weekdays 10:00 to 20:00, Saturdays 10:00 to 17:00, with a lunch break from 13:00 to 14:00, and closed on Sundays and public holidays. If you land on a Saturday afternoon, your first appointment may well be on Monday. Leave a spare day between your last treatment and your flight, and ask at booking how soon your specific plan allows you to fly.
Risks and side effects to know
Thread lifts carry risks you should weigh before booking. Bruising, swelling and tenderness are the common ones. Less often, a thread causes dimpling or puckering, can be felt or seen under thin skin, pulls unevenly or becomes infected, and occasionally a thread works its way toward the surface and has to be removed. Published reviews of facial threadlifting complications describe most of them as minor and temporary, but minor can still mean visible for a while.
Neuromodulator in the masseter can make chewing feel tired for a few weeks, and rarely it affects the smile if it spreads into a nearby muscle. Fat reduction and RF can leave redness and swelling for some days. Results and recovery differ from person to person, and whether any of this suits you is decided at the in-person exam in Seoul.
The part people forget is what happens at home. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises medical travelers to keep copies of their records and to plan follow-up care before they leave. Write down which products and how many threads were used, and if a thread pokes through, redness spreads or pain gets worse instead of better, see a doctor locally and send photos to the clinic on WhatsApp the same day.
Why I plan the lower face around its cause
I'm Dr. Won Woo Choi, a board-certified dermatologist. I completed my residency and board certification at Seoul National University Hospital, where I'm an adjunct professor in the Department of Dermatology. WELLS opened in 2008 and has one location, on the 8th floor of 842 Nonhyeon-ro in Apgujeong, a five-minute walk from Apgujeong Station Exit 3 on Line 3.
At WELLS a dermatologist handles the consultation, the diagnosis and the treatment, and the face is analyzed in 3D before the plan is set. For Thermage and Ultherapy we don't use deep sedation. Air NOX, oxygen and nitrous oxide with a local anesthetic, keeps you awake so you can see the tip and the shot count yourself, and you recover from it in about two minutes.
I also don't plan more than a face needs. For Ultherapy, most of our patients are satisfied with 300 to 400 shots, and a jaw that is mostly muscle may need neuromodulator and nothing else.
When you're ready, send the dates you'll be in Seoul on WhatsApp with the question you'd put to me first if we were sitting across the desk; if threads are on your mind, ask which direction they would pull on your face.

Is “v lift korea” the same as a facelift?
No. In Korean clinics the term usually describes non-surgical treatments such as threads, neuromodulator for the jaw muscle, fat reduction and lifting devices. A facelift is surgery that removes skin, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons describes thread lifts as less invasive with more modest results.
How long does a thread lift last?
At WELLS, thread lift results last more than a year, longer than filler, and skin tone and elasticity keep improving for 2 to 4 weeks after treatment. Your face keeps ageing in the meantime, so the lift gradually becomes less visible.
Can threads and jaw-muscle injections be done on the same trip?
They work on different layers, threads on sagging tissue and neuromodulator on the muscle, so they are often considered together. Give the dermatologist your flight date so the order and spacing of treatments fit your stay.
Will I be put to sleep for lifting?
WELLS does not use unnecessary sleep sedation. For lifting it uses Air NOX, a mix of oxygen and nitrous oxide with a local anesthetic, so you stay awake, need no fasting, recover in about two minutes and can drive afterwards.
What should I send before booking?
Front and both side views of your face in daylight without makeup or filters, your travel dates, any previous fillers, threads or lifting with product and date, plus medications, allergies and skin conditions. Photos help the team suggest options and timing before you arrive.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Every treatment carries possible side effects, which are explained at the consultation. Prices are in Korean won, excluding 10% VAT, and confirmed at your consultation. This article is general information from the clinic, not a diagnosis.
