How do you treat smile lines at the corners of the eyes?

These lines form when you smile, so they don't make you look unfriendly. Still, the day you notice them, it's upsetting, and many people want them gone. They start out visible only when you smile, but over time they settle in and stay even when your face is at rest.

So the best time to treat them is before they settle. The simplest prevention is a wrinkle-relaxing injection at the outer eye. It doesn't tighten or regenerate skin; it stops the muscle from creasing the skin too hard, so regular treatment slows the shift to lines that stay.

What helps fine lines under the eyes?

Under-eye lines start relatively young, sometimes in the late twenties or early thirties. The skin there is among the thinnest on the body, so it loses elasticity first, and the fine lines are a sign of that lost elasticity. The answer is to rebuild elasticity in the under-eye skin.

An easy option is a skin booster injected into the skin: Rejuran, or boosters that deliver collagen directly. As collagen regenerates and elasticity returns, under-eye lines can improve nicely. Boosters rarely give a dramatic change in one session, though. With Rejuran I usually suggest about three sessions roughly a month apart, and depending on the product, repeat sessions are spaced one to three months apart.

What is the most effective option for sagging eyelids?

Eyelid skin is thin, so when it loses elasticity it stretches. The double-eyelid line gets covered and narrower, the outer corner droops, the crease splits into two or three lines, and in some people the area around the eyeball hollows.

For the eyelid itself, the most effective treatment is Eye Thermage, which uses a dedicated tip designed for the eyelid area. Depending on severity, 225 or 450 shots are spread across the area. What if the brow has dropped as well?

Sometimes the forehead and brow have dropped too. Then tightening the eyelid skin alone won't be enough, and adding a treatment that lifts the forehead works better. Ultherapy on the forehead and EMFACE, which stimulates the muscle to lift, give a more natural result together.
