Why does adult acne keep coming back around the jaw?

Hello, I'm Dr. Hyo Seop Ryu, a board-certified dermatologist (M.D., Ph.D.) and Chief Director at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul. My short answer on acne scar removal korea: control the acne first, then match each scar layer to its own treatment. Teenage acne usually starts on the forehead and T-zone and moves down with age. Adult acne tends to sit around the jaw and mouth and keeps returning for a long time.

Several things push it along: richer, higher-fat and higher-calorie diets, long hours in heavy makeup that blocks pores, and social stress. Together they explain why more adults now live with acne that just won't settle.

Will adult acne last forever, and how should it be managed?

No. Older people rarely get acne, because oil-gland activity declines with age and acne settles by itself. What matters is how well you manage it until then.

• When things are calm: cleanse well and use a topical treatment.
• When it flares, for example around your period or under stress: see a dermatologist for oral medicine, laser or in-clinic care.
• Once it improves again: return to good cleansing and topical care.

Acne has three drivers: too much oil, oil that gets trapped, and bacterial infection. Depending on the stage, that means antibiotics taken or applied, prescription medicine that reduces oil, laser or clinic care. If you are too busy to visit, sterile extraction followed by a topical treatment can manage most early acne. How do acne scars form, and what types are there?

Oil glands grow and produce more oil, pores clog and small comedones form. When bacteria infect them and tissue is destroyed, acne becomes inflammatory, and that is when scars appear. The stage at which acne is treated decides what is left behind.

• Treated early, while pores are only stretched: mostly enlarged pores remain.
• Inflammatory acne: scars may stay on the surface.
• Untreated until it becomes pus-filled, cystic acne: deeper, sunken scars.

By shape, I see ice pick scars (narrow and pointed), boxcar scars (square-edged depressions) and rolling scars (soft-edged dips). Each shape calls for a different approach, so the most important step is an accurate diagnosis.

Why can't one injectable fix every scar?

Patients often hope that Rejuran or Juvelook alone will clear their scars. Rejuran's polynucleotide supports skin regeneration and can help calm early acne, but it cannot correct a scar that has already set. Juvelook stimulates collagen when placed in the dermis, but dermis-level injections alone cannot fill a deep, sunken scar.

So the treatment follows the scar's depth and shape: laser where the surface needs resurfacing, filler where the dermis is missing, and for scars sunk down to the fat layer, a collagen-stimulating injectable such as Sculptra, or Juvelook placed deeper, for more volume. How does acne scar removal korea handle early marks and deep scars?

Scar treatment splits into early and late. Early on, you often have red marks and brown pigmentation. Red marks fade faster with vascular lasers; at WELLS that means Synergy, Clarity or BBL, as on our rosacea and broken capillaries page. Brown marks can be treated with laser toning, but done badly it can trigger new breakouts, so it belongs with an experienced dermatologist.

Late, sunken scars need energy delivered into the dermis. For deep scars I treat each layer differently and combine them in one plan:

• Fat-layer loss that makes the skin sink: Sculptra or Juvelook to restore volume and stimulate collagen.
• Loss within the dermis: a collagen booster or filler.
• An uneven surface: ablative fractional laser or microneedle RF such as Genius, which remodels collagen in the dermis.
