PDRN injection Korea on a short trip, when the full course needs four visits
A PN or PDRN skin booster fits into a long weekend in Seoul: it's one visit, and the bumps usually settle by the next morning. The full course is four sessions, two to three weeks apart.

Is the Korean injection PDRN or PN?
If you're teaching somewhere in Asia or squeezing this into a three-day break, the real worry is whether you'll spend that break with a bumpy, bruised face, and whether one session is worth the trip at all. Much of what's sold as PDRN injection Korea is actually PN, PDRN's longer-chain cousin, and at WELLS a board-certified dermatologist does both the consultation and the injections.
Two facts decide how you plan it. The first days after the injection are mostly about small bumps and the chance of a bruise, and the recommended course for Rejuran HB+ is four sessions, two to three weeks apart. The second fact shapes your trip far more than the first.
If you already know when you're coming, send your flight dates on WhatsApp and the dermatologist will advise on timing. Add the one plan you'd hate to see a bruise on, say a friend's wedding or a Monday back in the classroom.

Send your flight dates on WhatsAppUsually PN. Both are DNA fragments purified from salmon or trout. PDRN is cut into shorter pieces, while PN keeps longer chains, and Rejuran, the injection most travelers have in mind, is a PN product.
A review in Pharmaceutics comparing the two describes PDRN as working mainly through cell signaling linked to tissue repair, and PN as doing related work while its longer chains also hold water in the skin, a little like a light gel. Both are placed in tiny amounts just under the surface. The bumps you see right afterwards are mostly that fluid before it spreads out.
The PN booster on my menu is Rejuran HB+: salmon-derived polynucleotide with hyaluronic acid and lidocaine added. The lidocaine is why it stings less; post-injection pain on the VAS scale was on average 53% lower than with Rejuran Healer. If you've been reading about Healer, I've explained how Rejuran Healer works and how we inject it in a separate post.
If pores and fine lines bother you more than dryness, Rejuran Tox puts 3 cc of Rejuran HB+ and 3 cc of skin smoothing injection (tiny surface doses of neuromodulator) into the same session. On your itinerary it still counts as one visit.

What about the PDRN serums in Korean pharmacies?
They're skincare. They can be pleasant moisturizers, but they don't do what an injection does.
Skin lets small molecules through far more easily than large ones. A classic paper in Experimental Dermatology put the practical cutoff at around 500 daltons, and DNA fragments are much larger than that. So a PDRN cream works mostly on the surface, through the ingredients around it that hydrate and soften.
If you want one to take home, choose it by your skin type rather than by the PDRN on the label. I've written about how we choose a PDRN booster for dry skin for readers whose main problem is tightness and flaking.
Much of the confusion around PDRN injection Korea comes from two different products sharing one word. The PDRN eye drops some people search for belong to a third category, eye care, and that's a question for an ophthalmologist, not a dermatologist.
Your first 72 hours, day by day
For many people the injection marks are the whole story, and they're gone by the next morning. A bruise is the part that can stay visible for longer.
| When | What you'll usually see | What it means for your trip |
|---|---|---|
| The first few hours | Small raised bumps at each injection point, pinkness, perhaps a pinpoint of blood | Keep the evening low-key and skip the big dinner photo |
| The next morning | Most bumps have flattened; faint dots or mild puffiness may remain | Sightseeing is usually fine; ask at your visit when makeup can go back on |
| Days 2 to 10 | If a bruise appeared, it's most visible early, then yellows and fades | Concealer usually covers it; keep major events out of this window if you can |
Risks and side effects to know
Not everyone follows this pattern. Thin skin under the eyes bruises more easily than the cheeks, and blood-thinning medicines or supplements such as fish oil raise the odds of a bruise anywhere. Mention them at the consultation rather than stopping anything on your own.
PDRN injection Korea: how many trips does a full course take?
Four sessions, two to three weeks apart, is the recommended course for Rejuran HB+. From the first session to the last that's roughly six to nine weeks, which almost nobody covers in one trip.
If you live a short flight away, in Tokyo, Taipei or Hong Kong, or you're working elsewhere in Korea, coming back every few weeks is realistic, and the course can be spread across long weekends. If you're flying in from North America or Europe, one session is what one trip gets you. Most published polynucleotide studies treat people with a series of sessions, so a single session is a smaller version of what they describe.
Sometimes a booster isn't the right first step at all. If what bothers you is uneven color or melasma rather than dryness or texture, laser toning and how its sessions are planned goes after pigment more directly. Skin problems that look alike can have different causes, and I'd rather work out what you're actually seeing before choosing a treatment.
When you write to us, say how many trips you can realistically make over the next two months, and whether your main concern is dryness, fine lines or pores. Those two answers shape the plan more than anything else.

Most reactions are small and pass on their own: the bumps, some redness, mild swelling, tenderness when you touch the area, and the occasional bruise. A systematic review of polynucleotides in aesthetic medicine found that reported side effects were mostly mild, short-lived injection-site reactions.
Less often, a small lump can be felt for longer, and as with any injection, infection is possible though uncommon. Redness that spreads and gets warmer and more painful after the first day, or a fever, is a reason to see a doctor promptly, wherever you are.
I'd hold off or want to talk it through first if you have a fish or lidocaine allergy, an active rash, cold sore or infection in the area, or if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, where there isn't enough data. Whether it suits your skin is decided at the in-person exam.
Before you fly home, keep a note of the product, the date and the areas treated. The CDC's medical tourism guidance makes the same point: carry copies of your records and know who will see you at home if you need follow-up care.
Why the person holding the needle matters
At WELLS, a board-certified dermatologist does the consultation and the treatment. We've been in Apgujeong since 2008, at this one location, a five-minute walk from Exit 3 of Apgujeong Station on Line 3.
I trained and was board-certified in dermatology at Seoul National University Hospital, and that matters here for a plain reason. If earlier treatment has left you with lumps or uneven texture, show it to a dermatologist before adding anything new.

If you're not sure a booster is the right tool for what you see in the mirror, take a photo of the area in daylight without makeup and send it on WhatsApp with the one question you want answered before you book.
Plan your visit before you fly
Send a daylight photo, your travel dates and what you have tried before. A dermatologist will suggest where to start and what fits your stay.

Does a PN or PDRN skin booster hurt?
You'll feel a series of small pricks. Most people describe the sensation as sharp but brief.
Can I fly the day after the injection?
Tell us your flight dates on WhatsApp and the dermatologist will advise on timing. For trip planning, bruising matters more than the flight itself, which is why an early-in-the-trip session leaves you more room.
Is PDRN injection Korea the same as the Rejuran I see on social media?
Close, but not identical. Rejuran is PN, made of longer DNA chains than PDRN. Both come from salmon or trout DNA and are injected into the skin, and Rejuran HB+ is the PN booster on our menu.
Can I combine it with skin smoothing injection in one visit?
Yes. Rejuran Tox combines 3 cc of Rejuran HB+ with 3 cc of skin smoothing injection in the same session, aimed at texture, fine lines and pores together. It still counts as a single visit.
What if something feels wrong after I get home?
Spreading redness, increasing pain, warmth or fever after the first day are reasons to see a doctor promptly at home. Keep a note of the product, the date and the treated areas so whoever sees you knows exactly what was injected.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Every treatment carries possible side effects, which are explained at the consultation. Prices are in Korean won, excluding 10% VAT, and confirmed at your consultation. This article is general information from the clinic, not a diagnosis.
