If you've searched for Korean microneedling, you've probably seen everything from home rollers to spa facials under the same name. At a dermatology clinic in Seoul, the term usually means something more specific. Genius RF or Potenza: which microneedle RF fits your concern?

We use two microneedle RF devices, and they answer different questions. The choice is not about which brand is newer. It's about what you want to change.

Genius RF Microneedling is our choice when the worry is texture, pores or a softening jawline. It stimulates the skin's own collagen regeneration, so nothing is injected to create the effect.

Potenza is how we use microneedle RF for pigment. Microneedle RF does sting, and I'd rather say that up front. For Genius, WELLS' anesthesia protocol controls about 80% of the usual discomfort. That combines local anesthetic with Air NOX, a precisely mixed oxygen and nitrous-oxide gas.

Air NOX is not deep sedation. You stay awake, you control the intensity by how you breathe, and you go home right after. It isn't suitable in early pregnancy, with respiratory conditions, panic disorder or vitamin B12 deficiency, so tell us about any of these beforehand.

The energy setting matters more than the pain

One thing I tell patients before any needling session: stronger is not better. When fractional or RF needling is pushed too hard, the skin can end up dry and irritated. We aim for an appropriate energy level for your skin, and we adjust it during the session.

How does a Korean microneedling visit fit into a trip?

Most international patients plan the whole visit before they land. The steps are simple, and all of it happens at one clinic in Apgujeong.

At WELLS the booster we use is Rejuran HB+, a salmon-derived polynucleotide with hyaluronic acid and lidocaine. The recommended course is four sessions at 2–3 week intervals, which rarely fits a single short trip, so I plan it honestly around how often you can come back.

Who microneedle RF is not for, and what it won't do

Microneedle RF improves the look of pores, but pores can't be removed completely, and they shouldn't be. They're the normal outlet for sebum, which protects the skin.
