Why people look for InMode in Korea

Hello, I'm Dr. Won Sin Lee, a board-certified dermatologist trained at Asan Medical Center in Seoul and an adjunct professor in its Department of Dermatology. I am also one of the chief directors at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong. This is how I explain InMode to someone flying in for it.

If you are searching for InMode Korea, you probably have a specific picture in mind: a soft double chin, a lower face that looks heavier than it used to, or a jawline that has lost its edge. You also have a trip with fixed dates, and you want to know whether one visit to a clinic in Seoul can realistically deal with it.

The short version: InMode is one device with two modes. One works on fat, the other on skin firmness, and the right mix depends on the face in front of the dermatologist, not on the name of the machine.

What does InMode do? Forma and Mini FX explained

People often ask me what does InMode do that other lifting devices do not. The answer is that it treats two layers in one session. The InMode lifting we offer combines Mini FX, which targets fat, and Forma, which targets the skin.

Mini FX: fat under the chin and along the jaw

Mini FX delivers high-voltage pulse energy at 45–47 °C into the fat layer. It is designed to break down unwanted fat and lift the SMAS layer, which is why we use it for fullness under the chin and a blurred jawline. When people search for InMode FX or InMode fat reduction, this is the mode they mean.

Forma: multipolar RF for firmness and fine lines

Forma uses multipolar RF delivered into the dermis. It stimulates collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, so its job is tightening and softening fine lines rather than removing volume. Because it works through the body's own remodelling, the firmness builds gradually rather than appearing all at once.

At WELLS we use a genuine InMode device from Invasix, and the device is FDA and KFDA approved. You can read the treatment summary on our InMode Lifting (Forma + Mini FX) page.

Who InMode suits, and who I would steer elsewhere

In my consultations, the people who benefit most from InMode tend to fall into a few groups:

  • A double chin or fullness under the chin that has not gone with weight change
  • A lower face that looks heavy because of jowls or cheek fat
  • A jawline that has blurred as the skin lost firmness
  • Anyone who wants a smoother contour without surgery and also wants the skin itself firmer

It is not the answer for every face. If your cheeks are already thin, removing more fat can make the face look tired rather than lifted, so I would lean on Forma alone or another option. If the main problem is deep sagging across the whole face, a device that works deeper, such as Thermage FLX with a collagen booster, may do more. Our full range is on the lifting and anti-aging treatments page.

Not sure whether your concern is fat, laxity or both? Send a front and side photo of your lower face with your travel dates, and we will tell you what we would suggest.

Why operator skill matters more than the device

Every clinic that offers InMode in Seoul has the same handpieces. What differs is how the energy is used. Fat volume and skin thickness vary from person to person and from one side of the face to the other, so energy time and intensity have to be adjusted for each area.

Get that wrong in one direction and the result is weak. Get it wrong in the other and the risk of a burn rises. That is why results with InMode differ so clearly from one operator to the next.

At WELLS, a board-certified dermatologist handles your consultation, diagnosis and treatment. We avoid the factory-style approach: we look at your face shape and your areas of concern one to one before deciding what goes where. You can read about each of us on our dermatologists page.

InMode Seoul: how a visit from abroad works

Planning InMode Seoul treatment from overseas is simpler than most people expect. The whole process runs in English, and you know the plan before you fly.

  • Message us on WhatsApp with your concern, a photo if you like, and your travel dates. We reply in English with options and appointment times.
  • Dermatologist consultation at the clinic. The dermatologist examines your face, with 3D analysis where the treatment calls for it, and confirms the plan and price before anything starts.
  • Treatment in the same clinic. InMode needs no anesthesia, so there is no sedation, no fasting and no recovery room.
  • Aftercare. You leave with the dermatologist's instructions and can reach us on WhatsApp after you go home.

We are on the 8th floor of the Apgujeong Building, a five-minute walk from Exit 3 of Apgujeong Station on Line 3. We are open Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00 and Saturday 10:00–17:00, closed for lunch 13:00–14:00 and on Sundays and public holidays. Directions and photos of the rooms are on our clinic page.

Timing InMode around your flights

For anyone fitting InMode Korea treatment into a short trip, timing is the practical question. InMode involves no incision, and most people go back to their normal day straight after. Mild redness or bruising can appear right after treatment, especially where Mini FX was used. How long it lasts varies with your skin and how much was treated.

For that reason I suggest you do not book InMode the day before an important event or a long-haul flight you want to look your best on. Tell us your dates and the dermatologist will advise how to place the session within your trip.

Mini FX can feel like suction with a brief sense of heat, and pain tolerance differs. If comfort is your main worry, or you want almost no visible marks before a flight home, microwave lifting may suit you better; I compare the two options in practical terms in our Onda Seoul guide.

Tell us your arrival and departure dates. We will suggest where the consultation and treatment fit so you are not rushing on the last day.

Plan InMode around my trip

InMode before and after: what changes, and what to expect

When people search InMode before and after, what they really want to know is what changes and when. Mini FX works on fat, so the contour under the chin and along the jaw is where you look. Forma works on collagen, so firmness and texture improve gradually as the skin remodels.

Beyond the contour, many people also notice smoother texture and a brighter tone from the collagen side of the treatment. Individual results vary, side effects are possible, and the number of sessions is something the dermatologist sets after seeing your face.

If you are also considering a stronger collagen-based lift on the same trip, our Thermage Korea guide explains how that visit works. Answers to general questions about booking, prices and sedation are on our FAQ for international patients.

Whatever the area, the price for InMode at WELLS is confirmed at your consultation, in Korean won and excluding 10% VAT, before anything starts.
