Why do people fly to Seoul for Thermage?

If you're planning a Thermage Korea trip, you're probably weighing two worries: is it worth the flight, and can you trust a clinic you've never visited? Both are sensible. The answer depends less on the country than on who treats you, what's in the tip, and how the day is planned.

In this guide I'll explain what a Thermage visit to our clinic in Apgujeong looks like for someone flying in. That covers the steps, the timing and what we do differently.

Thermage FLX is fourth-generation monopolar radiofrequency. It heats the dermis to stimulate collagen remodeling, which is why it's used for loose skin on the cheeks, jawline and neck and for fine lines and loss of firmness. The device is the same worldwide; the protocol around it is not.

What makes Thermage in Seoul at WELLS different?

WELLS has been in Apgujeong since 2008, and a board-certified dermatologist handles your consultation, diagnosis and treatment. For Thermage, four things matter most to visitors.

• Genuine tips only: if a tip is ever found not to be genuine, we refund ten times the treatment price

• Diagnosis first: 3D analysis before lifting, and a skin-microbiome test before Thermage MAX

Our signature protocol is Thermage MAX. Before the radiofrequency starts, we test your skin microbiome and infuse two bottles of AQ MAX (alanyl-glutamine). A collagen-peptide serum is applied as the FLX handpiece works.

The reasoning is simple. RF heat that stimulates collagen can also stress the fibroblasts that make it. In lab tests, AQ (40 mM) protected fibroblasts and kept collagen synthesis up under 43–55 °C heat, the temperature range Thermage reaches.

How a Thermage Korea visit works, step by step

Most of the planning happens before you land. That's deliberate, because it means your time in Seoul goes on treatment, not paperwork.

1. Message us on WhatsApp

Send your concern, a photo if you like, and your travel dates. We reply in English with suggested options and available appointment times.

2. Dermatologist consultation in Apgujeong

At the clinic, a dermatologist examines your skin, with 3D analysis and a microbiome test where Thermage MAX calls for it. The plan and the final price are confirmed before anything starts.

3. Treatment, awake and comfortable

We use Air NOX, a controlled mix of oxygen and nitrous oxide, with local anesthetic. You stay conscious and control the intensity by breathing. There's no fasting, recovery takes about two minutes, and you can drive afterwards.

Air NOX isn't suitable in early pregnancy, with respiratory conditions, panic disorder or vitamin B12 deficiency, so tell us in advance if any apply.

4. Aftercare you can reach from home

You leave with the dermatologist's aftercare instructions and can reach us on WhatsApp after you fly home.

Thermage cost in Korea: what's listed

Thermage MAX prices are listed on our site in Korean won, excluding 10% VAT. The dermatologist decides between 600 and 900 shots at consultation, based on the area to be treated.

The price for Collagen Booster Thermage FLX, our standard FLX with a booster serum, is confirmed at consultation. If your main concern is the eyes and upper face, our 3X Upper Face Lifting combines Eye Thermage, EMFACE and Eye Ultherapy, from ₩2,500,000 (VAT excluded).

How long to stay in Seoul, and when to fly home

Thermage is a single-session treatment, so a Thermage Korea trip doesn't need a long stay. Plan your consultation and treatment on a clinic day and leave yourself some margin before your flight.

• Mon–Fri 10:00–20:00, Saturday 10:00–17:00, lunch 13:00–14:00
• Closed on Sundays and Korean public holidays, so avoid planning treatment on those days
• Mild heat or swelling can follow treatment and generally settles within a few days

Tell us your flight times and the dermatologist will advise on timing for your skin. Don't expect the full result before you board. Thermage works through collagen remodeling, and results may begin to appear after about two weeks and last six to fourteen months.

If you're adding another treatment to the same trip, such as Ultherapy or a skin booster, mention it in your first message. The dermatologist plans the order and timing so that everything fits the days you actually have in Seoul.

Many patients return once a year. If you had Thermage MAX, repeating the microbiome test when you come back lets us compare changes in your skin over time.

Thermage side effects, and Ulthera vs Thermage

The most common Thermage side effects are short-lived heat, redness or swelling. The serious ones usually come from the setup: non-genuine tips, energy pushed too high, or treatment under deep sedation where you can't give feedback. That's why we keep you awake, show you the tip and let the dermatologist set the energy area by area.

Ulthera vs Thermage in one line each

Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound on the deeper SMAS layer to lift, while Thermage uses radiofrequency in the dermis to firm the surface and support collagen. They work on different layers, so they're often combined rather than chosen between.

Getting to WELLS in Apgujeong

We're on the 8th floor of the Apgujeong Building, 842 Nonhyeon-ro, Gangnam-gu. Take Subway Line 3 to Apgujeong Station, Exit 3; it's about five minutes on foot, and NH Bank is on the ground floor.

Underground self-parking is available at the building, though spaces may be limited. Inside you'll find reception, private lounges, consultation rooms and laser rooms, all on one floor.
