What should an Ultherapy clinic in Korea actually offer you?

Search for an Ultherapy clinic in Korea and you'll find page after page of options that sound the same. From the outside they look alike; from the treatment bed they don't. The device may carry the same name, but who holds it, which tip goes on it and whether you're awake all change what you get.

I'm Dr. Won Sin Lee, a board-certified dermatologist trained at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, where I'm an adjunct professor in the Department of Dermatology. Whether you typed Ultherapy Korea or Ultherapy Seoul, this is the checklist I'd give a friend flying in, followed by how a visit to WELLS works.

• Who treats you: a board-certified dermatologist should handle consultation, diagnosis and treatment, not just sign off on them
• Genuine tips you can see: ask to see the tip opened before treatment, and for a certificate you can verify
• Awake or asleep: ask how the clinic judges energy if you're sedated and can't give feedback
• How shots are decided: a fixed high shot count is a menu, not a plan
• The device: ask whether the clinic uses Ultherapy Prime
• Language and follow-up: can you consult in English and reach the clinic after you fly home?

Why the tip, the doctor and the device matter

Genuine tips

A refurbished or non-genuine tip can deliver energy unevenly, risking burns or no effect at all. At WELLS only genuine tips are used, and if a tip is ever found not to be genuine, we refund ten times the treatment price.

The tip is opened in front of you, and afterwards you receive a certificate with an authentication number and a QR code to check on the official site. WELLS is also a Merz Ultherapy Golden Record Award clinic.

Even with the same device, lifting results can differ depending on how well the plan is built around your face shape, skin thickness and degree of sagging. That's why, at WELLS, a board-certified dermatologist handles your consultation, diagnosis and treatment, and the person who plans your treatment map is the one who carries it out.

Every session at WELLS runs on the Ultherapy Prime system. It keeps the same principle, focused ultrasound delivered to the deep SMAS layer without damaging the skin surface, but improves how clearly the doctor can see what's underneath.

Its treatment display is larger with better resolution, and the visible ultrasound depth extends to 8 mm. That matters because layer depth and fat distribution differ between people, and even between areas of one face, so energy can go where it's needed rather than being wasted.

How many Ultherapy shots do you really need?

Many people arrive assuming more shots mean more lift. That isn't how it works at WELLS: most of our patients are satisfied with their results with 300–400 shots; only about 2% of WELLS patients need 600 or more.

Sedation is part of the story. Ultherapy's own guidelines don't recommend deep sedation, because under sedation you can't give feedback, so energy tends to be pushed higher, raising burn risk, and you can't check the tip or shot count yourself. We treat you awake under Air NOX, an oxygen and nitrous-oxide mix, with local anesthetic.

Before treatment your face is analyzed with a 3D imaging system, and an individualized treatment map sets the energy and shot distribution for each area. The same map keeps energy away from areas with little fat, where too much heat can leave a hollow look.

Red flags when comparing Ultherapy clinics in Seoul

Price comparisons are where most people start, and where the most confusing offers live. None of the points below automatically means a clinic is unsafe, but each deserves a direct question before you book.

• A per-shot price far below others, with no word on which tip is used or whether you'll see it opened
• Sedation offered as the default, with fasting required, for a treatment you could have awake
• A large shot package recommended before anyone has examined your face
• A plan decided by a coordinator, with the doctor appearing only on the day
• No clear answer about who performs the treatment
• No way to reach the clinic once you've flown home

At WELLS a dermatologist, not a consultation manager, judges in a face-to-face consultation whether treatment is actually needed. We recommend only what your face needs, and that sometimes means fewer shots than you expected, or a different treatment altogether.

What to send an Ultherapy clinic on WhatsApp before you book

The quickest way to judge any clinic is to message it and see what comes back. Here's what to send us, and what you should get in return.

• A front and side photo in natural light
• Your main concern: jawline, cheeks, neck or the eye area
• Your travel dates and flight times
• Any medical conditions, pregnancy or medication, since some affect whether Air NOX is suitable

We reply in English with treatment options and available appointment times. At the clinic, a dermatologist examines your skin with 3D analysis and confirms the plan and price, treatment takes place in the same clinic, and you can reach us on WhatsApp afterwards.
