Korean filler in Seoul: areas, technique, price and how a visit works

What do people mean by "Korean filler"?

When someone asks me about Korean filler, they rarely mean a single product. They mean having filler done in Seoul, often on a short trip, and they want to know whether it will look natural, who will inject it, and what it will cost before they book a flight.

Those are the right questions. I am a board-certified dermatologist who trained and completed my residency at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, where I am now an adjunct professor of dermatology. This is how I would explain filler in Korea to a friend planning a visit.

Korean fillers are not a special kind of gel. Most dermal fillers used for the face are hyaluronic acid gels. The gel goes in, and the volume is there straight away. It is generally absorbed over time, usually somewhere around six months to a year, and the area slowly returns to where it started.

What changes from clinic to clinic is not the idea but the judgment: where the volume goes, how much, at what depth, and who decides.

How we approach Korean filler at WELLS

My starting question is never "how much should we fill?" It is "what face are we trying to restore?" Youthful faces are about balance and harmony, not maximum volume. That shapes everything that follows, from the areas we choose to the amount we inject.

The five areas we treat

Why a cannula where possible

The main serious risk with any filler is vascular. If gel enters a blood vessel it can disrupt blood flow, which can show up as colour change, severe pain and, rarely, tissue damage. That is why we inject with a cannula where possible: a blunt-tipped cannula minimizes the vessel-damage risk of a standard sharp needle.

Korean filler brands: what you should actually ask

People often search for Korean filler brands, hoping one name will settle the question. I would put the brand second. What matters more is that the product is genuine, that the amount you pay for is the amount that goes in, and that it suits the area. Pillow face and overfilling: who filler suits, and when it doesn't

"Pillow face filler" is what people type when they have seen faces that look puffy and heavy rather than refreshed. It usually comes from one of two mistakes: too much volume, or volume in a place that was sagging rather than hollow. More filler does not mean a better result.

The principle I work from is simple: fill what is hollow, lift or tidy what sags. Filler suits a face that has genuinely lost volume in a specific place, such as a sunken under-eye or a flattened midface. It is a poor tool for a cheek that has dropped.

When a different treatment fits better

• Sagging rather than hollowing: a thread lift uses genuine, KFDA-approved threads for a visible lift immediately after the procedure, and lasts longer than filler.
• Broad, gradual volume loss across the face: collagen-stimulating Sculptra builds volume slowly over several sessions rather than all at once.
• Texture, fine lines and dryness rather than volume: a skin booster such as Rejuran HB+ works on the skin's quality, not its shape.
• Expression lines from muscle movement: toxin rather than filler, and combining filler with botox extends the result.

One honest limit: below the cheekbone, tissue often adheres strongly, so filler alone may not fully correct a hollow there. That needs to be judged in person, with your face in front of the dermatologist.

Korean filler price: why it is confirmed at consultation

The reason is practical. The figure depends on which areas you treat, how much product each one needs and which filler suits that area. A quote given before anyone has looked at your face would either be padded or wrong.

Timing Korean filler around your flights

Filler is one of the easier treatments to fit into a trip, because the volume shows immediately and there is no surgery. Still, I would not book it for the afternoon before a long-haul flight. Giving yourself a few days in Seoul after the injection means the dermatologist can check anything that worries you.

The simplest rule: tell us your flight dates on WhatsApp and the dermatologist will advise on timing before you book the appointment. If you have an event at home, say so as well, so the plan works backwards from that date.

Other treatments need more planning. Sculptra is usually recommended as about three sessions at one-month intervals, so it suits people who visit Seoul regularly.
