Hello, I'm Dr. Won Woo Choi, Medical Director and a board-certified dermatologist at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul.
At WELLS, a dermatologist handles both the consultation and the treatment. We inject filler with a cannula where possible, and we confirm the product and amount before treatment.
I wrote this because many people plan for the appointment and forget the days after it, and those days are what shape the trip.
The injection itself usually takes well under an hour, while swelling and bruising can take 7 to 14 days to settle. The American Academy of Dermatology notes that most fillers let you return to everyday activities right away, so the wait is mainly about how you look.
If your flights are already booked, send your dates on WhatsApp and ask how many days you should leave between the injection and departure.
Send a clear photo and your travel dates, and we will tell you what fits the time you have in Seoul.
Send your flight dates on WhatsAppThe injecting is the short part. The chin is a small area, so at many clinics the needle or cannula work takes minutes, and the longer part of the visit goes to consultation, numbing and planning.
A first visit in a foreign city usually has more talking in it than a repeat visit at home, and it should. You're meeting the doctor, explaining what you've had done before, and agreeing on a product and an amount. Ask how long to block out when you book, and don't schedule anything tight right after it.
The hours matter more than people expect. We're open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 20:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00, with lunch from 13:00 to 14:00, and we're closed on Sundays and holidays.

How long does chin filler take to look settled?
Hyaluronic acid filler holds water, and the tissue around an injection reacts to the small injury. The chin also has fairly little soft tissue over the bone, so even mild swelling can feel tight and look like a slightly different shape. That's why the mirror on day 2 tells you very little.
This is a typical pattern, and your own days may run faster or slower:
| When | What you may notice | What it means for plans |
|---|---|---|
| Day 0 | Firmness, tenderness, numbness wearing off | Keep the evening quiet |
| Days 1–3 | Swelling at its most visible, bruises may appear | Don't judge the shape or book photos |
| Days 4–7 | Swelling easing, bruises fading through yellow | Makeup often covers what's left |
| Days 7–14 | Remaining swelling and tenderness settling | A better time to judge the result |
This timing applies to hyaluronic acid. A collagen stimulator runs on a much slower clock, which is a separate decision covered in how PLLA sessions fit a Seoul trip. If you're still deciding whether filler is the right tool for your chin at all, start with what chin filler can and can't reshape.
Your days in Seoul, worked through one example
Say you're in your early 50s, your jawline has softened, and you have eight days in Seoul with family, flying home the following Monday. A weekday early in the trip gives you the most room. Treated on Tuesday, you reach day 6 on your flight home, with most of the visible swelling usually past and the clinic reachable for several of those days.
Now move the same injection to Saturday. Your first full day afterward is a Sunday, when we're closed, and that's often when people first start to worry about swelling. If Saturday is your only option, ask at booking how to reach someone on the Sunday.
The preparation also starts at home, about two weeks ahead. A review on minimizing filler bruising suggests stopping high-dose vitamin E, ginkgo and garlic about two weeks before, avoiding NSAIDs for about five days, and holding aspirin for a week only if it isn't medically necessary. Don't stop a prescribed blood thinner on your own. Tell the doctor about it and ask your prescriber.
For your message, a daylight side-profile photo and a note of any earlier chin treatment are what to send, and the question is whether your dates leave enough room.

I use a cannula where possible because its blunt tip reduces the risk of damaging a vessel compared with a standard needle. It's mainly a safety choice. The review above found no clear difference in bruising between cannulas and needles, so don't expect a cannula to shorten your recovery on its own.
The same review links larger volumes, faster injection and fanning technique with more bruising. In practical terms, how much goes in and how it's placed can affect your days more than the tool's name does.
Product choice matters too. Our chin work aims to refine the chin tip for a slimmer face shape, and combining filler with an anti-wrinkle injection can extend the result. Volume planning is the same across the face: what goes wrong when cheeks are overfilled shows why more product isn't automatically a better outcome.
What do reviews get right and wrong about chin filler?
Three claims come up again and again, and they hold up to different degrees.
- "It's a lunch-break treatment." Partly true. The injection can be that short, but the claim ignores the swelling in the days that follow.
- "There's no downtime." True for activity for many people, and misleading for appearance. You can walk around Seoul the same afternoon and still have a bruise you'd rather not bring to a family dinner.
- "Flying makes filler move." I'd put less weight on this one. The CDC's advice to delay air travel 10 to 14 days concerns major surgery, and filler isn't that. Spare days matter more because they keep you close to the clinic while early problems can still be examined.
Filler that really has shifted is a different issue, and it usually shows up later. The signs are described in what under-eye filler migration looks like, though that's a different area of the face.
What decides the cost of chin filler for your case?
A few things move the figure:
- Amount: how many syringes your chin needs, which follows from how much projection you're after.
- Product: the firmness of the gel suited to supporting the chin.
- Areas: the chin alone, or the chin with the jawline or nasolabial folds.
- Old filler: whether anything already there has to be dealt with first.
- Combined treatment: whether you add an anti-wrinkle injection on the same visit.
To get the figure for your own case, ask on WhatsApp what it would cost with a front and side photo attached.
What could go wrong after you fly home?
Risks and side effects to know
The common reactions are bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness and itching, and they usually fade within days to about two weeks. The US FDA also lists less common problems such as infection, raised bumps or nodules, allergic reaction and tissue death, and rare ones including filler migration, vision problems and stroke.
Talk to a doctor first or wait if you have active infection or inflammation at the site, a bleeding disorder, severe allergies, or an allergy to lidocaine. The FDA says safety is unknown during pregnancy and breastfeeding and in people prone to keloids. Whether filler suits you is decided when a dermatologist examines you.
The FDA calls injection into a blood vessel the most concerning risk. Get immediate medical care for unusual pain, vision changes, white, gray or blue skin near the site, or signs of stroke, wherever you are. Before you leave Seoul, ask for the product name and amount in your records, because the CDC advises taking copies home and confirming that follow-up care is available there.
One message before you fix your dates
One photo is enough for a first message, and you can ask before booking anything. Send it on WhatsApp with this question: which day of my trip leaves the most room before my flight? When you come in, a dermatologist examines you and recommends the amount and product that fit your chin.

Can I go out for dinner the same day as chin filler?
Most people can return to everyday activities right away. Expect some tenderness and possibly early swelling, and keep in mind that a bruise can take a day or so to appear.
How many days should I leave between chin filler and my flight?
There's no single rule for filler. For appearance, more days are better, since swelling and bruising can take 7 to 14 days to settle. Spare days also keep you near the clinic if something needs examining, so ask about your dates when you book.
How long does chin filler last once it has settled?
Hyaluronic acid filler in the chin usually lasts many months, and often around a year. Product, amount and your own metabolism all play a part, so ask about the product proposed for you.
Can I get a final plan from photos before I fly to Seoul?
Photos and travel dates are useful for a first suggestion on options and timing. The final plan and price are confirmed after the dermatologist examines you in Seoul.
Does a chin filler appointment need sedation?
Filler is an office procedure, and most fillers can be given during a regular visit. Ask at booking which numbing method is proposed for your treatment.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Every treatment carries possible side effects, which are explained at the consultation. Prices are in Korean won, excluding 10% VAT, and confirmed at your consultation. This article is general information from the clinic, not a diagnosis.
