Restylane Filler Recovery Day by Day: How Long Should Your Seoul Trip Be? Cost, Reviews and Methods
Swelling after hyaluronic acid filler is often most visible in the first two days, and most bruises fade within about a week, though a slow one or a chin can take up to two weeks. Have the injection early in your Seoul trip.

Why does day two look worse than day zero?
Is Restylane filler recovery day by day going to fit the seven days you have in Seoul, or will you fly home still swollen?
Before you book the treatment or the flight, go through this calendar once.
You'll see what each day usually looks like, what decides the cost, which claims in reviews hold up, and how the method changes your downtime. Then you can match the area you want treated to the days and budget you have.
Hello, I'm Dr. Won Woo Choi, Medical Director at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul.
Our dermatologists have over fifteen years of filler experience and inject with a cannula where possible. We confirm the product and amount before treatment, and consultations at the clinic are available in English.
I wrote this because many people judge their result on the second morning, when swelling can make it look its worst, and then ask for changes they don't need.
The short answer: swelling is often most visible in the first two days, and most bruises fade within about a week. A slow bruise or a treated chin can take up to two weeks, so have the injection early in your trip.
Send your flight dates and one daylight photo of the area on WhatsApp, and ask which day of your trip to choose for the injection.

Restylane is one brand of hyaluronic acid filler, and hyaluronic acid holds water. The needle or cannula also causes a small injury, and the body answers with fluid and inflammation over the following hours. So the face you see right after the injection often isn't the one you'll see the next morning.
That explains the common shock on day two: more fullness, some unevenness, perhaps a bruise that wasn't there before. For most people it's a stage in the process, and it tells you little about the final shape.
The label on the syringe matters less to your calendar than people expect. Area, amount and technique usually move recovery more. I can't tell you from this page which product suits you, so if you want Restylane specifically, ask which product would be used in your plan.
Restylane filler recovery day by day, as a calendar
Use this as a general guide for hyaluronic acid filler. Timelines run differently by area and by person.
| Day | What you may notice | What to do on your trip |
|---|---|---|
| Day 0 | Tenderness, puffiness, small puncture marks | Everyday activity is fine; skip hard exercise and alcohol |
| Days 1–2 | Swelling often at its most visible; bruises may surface | Sleep with your head raised; use cool compresses; plan light days |
| Days 3–4 | Swelling easing; bruises changing color | Sightseeing is fine; concealer covers many marks |
| Days 5–7 | Most swelling gone; most bruises fading | Photos and meetings are usually manageable |
| Days 8–14 | A slow bruise clears; a chin keeps settling | Judge the shape toward the end of this stretch |
The American Academy of Dermatology says people can return to everyday activities immediately after most fillers, and that matches what the table shows: you're rarely confined to your hotel. The issue is how you look and feel on those days. The FDA puts it broadly as well, noting that many common effects resolve in a few days to weeks.
Areas differ. In lips, swelling usually settles within 24 to 48 hours and can take up to a week. With chin filler, swelling and bruising can take 7 to 14 days, which is why how a chin is planned belongs in your trip decision. Thin skin shows more, and the under-eye area is where a small bruise is hardest to hide.
How long should your Seoul trip be?
I'd think about it in three lengths. The calendar above is what decides this, along with how much a visible bruise would bother you on the way home.
- Three or four days: possible, but you may fly at or just past peak swelling, with little room for a slow bruise.
- Five to seven days: covers the stage when most swelling and bruising usually fade, if the injection falls early.
- Ten to fourteen days: gives a chin or a slow bruise time to settle while you're still in Seoul.
The clinic's hours affect this too. We're open weekdays 10:00–20:00 and Saturdays 10:00–17:00, closed for lunch 13:00–14:00, and closed on Sundays and Korean public holidays. If your injection is on a Saturday, your first day of swelling falls on a day the clinic is shut, so with a choice of days I'd lean toward an early weekday.
Say you land on a Sunday with seven days, a limited budget, and you'd like both your chin and under-eyes done. I'd pick one for this trip. The chin can need the full two weeks you don't have, and the under-eye bruise is the one you'd see in every photo, so the area that bothers you more wins and the other goes on a later list. Have it on Monday or Tuesday, keep the next two days light, and you'll fly on what should be a quieter stage.
Write down the area you'd choose if you could only do one, add your landing and departure times, and put that in a WhatsApp message with the question of how many days that area needs.

Three choices shape your Restylane filler recovery day by day, and all of them come down to how much the tissue is disturbed.
Cannula or needle. We inject with a cannula where possible because it minimizes the vessel-damage risk of a standard needle. A blunt tip can still bruise, so it reduces risk without removing it.
Amount in one sitting. A larger volume generally means more swelling and a longer settling time. Overfilling is a separate problem from swelling, and why faces look overfilled is worth reading if that's your fear.
Type of product. Firmer, long-lasting filler is used in places like nasolabial folds, and softer products suit other zones. If what you want is better skin quality and not volume, a skin booster follows a different schedule, and how Rejuran results build over a course shows how different that timeline is.
Which recovery claims in reviews hold up?
"I went to work the next day." Often true, and consistent with what the AAD says. Whether you'd want to depends on the area and on whether a bruise appears.
"My lips looked huge on day two, so the injector overfilled me." Usually too early to say. Give it about a week before judging, and up to two weeks if there's still a bruise or the area is your chin.
"This brand doesn't swell." Don't plan around it. Any injected filler can swell, and the area and amount generally matter more than the name.
"Just massage the lumps out." Not without asking the person who injected you. A small firm spot may settle by itself, and pressing it can add to the swelling.

Risks and side effects to know
The FDA lists bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, itching and rash as common. Less common problems include raised bumps under the skin, infection and allergic reaction. It calls unintentional injection into a blood vessel the most concerning risk, because blocked blood supply can lead to tissue death, vision problems including blindness, and stroke. It's rare, and it's the reason training and technique matter to you.
The FDA also says to delay filler if you have active inflammation or infection. Tell your doctor about any bleeding disorder, severe allergy, or history of anaphylaxis, and about allergy to lidocaine or animal products. As general medicine, pregnancy and breastfeeding are usually reasons to put it off too.
Once you're home, sudden severe pain, skin that turns pale or dusky, or any change in vision means emergency care immediately. Tell the doctor you've had filler, and give the date and product. Redness that spreads, warmth or fever needs a same-day medical opinion. The FDA notes that inflammation near the site can follow illness, vaccination or dental work, and some effects can appear weeks or longer later, so take your treatment record home. The CDC's medical travel guidance also advises confirming follow-up care at home before you leave. Recovery varies from person to person.
What decides the cost of filler on a short trip?
Five things decide it, and most can be settled before you buy a ticket.
- The product: brand and type, confirmed before treatment.
- The amount: how much each area needs.
- The number of areas: one area now or several in a sitting.
- Add-ons: anti-wrinkle injection combined with filler, if it's relevant to your plan.
- Your days in Seoul: we have no partner hotels, so you'd book and pay for the extra recovery nights yourself.
Prices at the clinic are listed in Korean won and exclude VAT, so check that line when you add things up. For the figure in your own case, ask on WhatsApp what it would cost, with a photo of the area you'd treat first.
Replies on WhatsApp are in English, and you can ask before booking anything. One clear photo and your travel dates make a good first message, along with this question: if I have the injection on the day you suggest, what should I expect to see on my flight home? When you come to Apgujeong, the dermatologist examines you and recommends the plan that fits your face and your days.

Can I fly the day after a filler injection?
Filler isn't major surgery, so the CDC's 10 to 14 day caution for major operations doesn't describe it. The practical concern is flying during peak swelling, and being far away if a problem appears, so more days in Seoul give you more margin.
When can I exercise after filler?
As general guidance, skip hard exercise, saunas and alcohol for about the first day, since heat and increased blood flow can add to swelling and bruising. Light walking is usually fine.
How can I hide a bruise from filler on my trip?
Once the puncture points have closed, usually by the next day, concealer covers many bruises. A cool compress in the first day or two may help limit them.
Does WELLS use Restylane?
This article doesn't confirm a specific brand for your plan. WELLS confirms the product and amount before treatment, so ask on WhatsApp which product would be used for your area.
Is a lump two weeks after filler normal?
A small firm spot can still be settling at that stage. A lump that's growing, painful, red or warm needs a doctor's opinion, and the FDA lists nodules and infection among less common risks.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Every treatment carries possible side effects, which are explained at the consultation. Prices are in Korean won, excluding 10% VAT, and confirmed at your consultation. This article is general information from the clinic, not a diagnosis.
