Korean under eye filler in Seoul: who it suits, and how to plan it
Why the under-eye is the most delicate area to fill, when filler is the wrong tool, how we inject it, and how to fit it around a trip to Seoul.

Why is Korean under eye filler harder than other areas?
Hello, I'm Dr. Won Woo Choi, a board-certified dermatologist and chief director at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul. I completed my residency at Seoul National University Hospital, earned my doctorate in dermatology at Seoul National University, and am an adjunct professor in its Department of Dermatology.
If you are looking into Korean under eye filler, you have probably noticed that concealer no longer hides the shadow under your eyes. A hollow under the eye is hard to cover with makeup, and it makes people look tired even after a full night's sleep.
I am a board-certified dermatologist trained at Seoul National University Hospital, with a Ph.D. in dermatology from Seoul National University, and I am an adjunct professor in its Department of Dermatology. This is how I explain the under-eye to people who are planning a visit to Seoul.
The under-eye is the thinnest and most mobile skin on the face, so it tends to show age first. In thicker areas such as the cheeks or forehead, a little extra volume blends in. Under the eye, a very small difference in amount can change the whole impression.
That is why under-eye filler is less about filling a hole and more about handling a delicate structure. The right plan depends on your skin thickness, how deep the hollow is and how much fat sits under the eye.
Hollows, bags or bumps: what is the best under eye bag treatment?
Before anyone talks about product, I want to know what is actually causing the shadow. Three different problems often get described the same way, and filler only answers one of them.
- A hollow: volume has been lost below the eye, leaving a groove. This is what under-eye filler is designed for, and at WELLS under-eye hollows are treated with filler instead of surgery.
- A bag: under-eye fat pushes forward and casts a shadow beneath it. Adding filler on top of a bag can make the area look heavier, so the amount of under-eye fat matters before anything is injected.
- Lax, crepey skin: thin skin with fine lines and dryness. A skin booster or a lifting treatment may suit this better than volume.
So the best under eye bag treatment depends on whether you have a bag at all. Many people who think they have bags actually have a hollow beneath a normal fat pad, and the reverse also happens. That is a judgement to make in person, in good light.
Small white bumps are a different question
People also ask me how to get rid of milia under eyes while they are planning filler. Small white bumps there may be milia, but syringoma can look very similar. Syringoma sits deep in the dermis, is hard to self-diagnose and recurs easily, so it should be confirmed and treated by a dermatologist. Our warts and syringomas page explains how we approach it.
Where neuromodulator fits, and where it doesn't
Searches such as "under-eye injection before and after" or "Anti-wrinkle injection under eyes before and after" usually come from people hoping neuromodulator will fill a hollow. It won't. Neuromodulator relaxes muscle, so it is generally used for expression lines, not for lost volume. At WELLS we use neuromodulator with US FDA approval only, and the dermatologist decides whether it has any role around your eyes.
How I inject under-eye filler at WELLS
Our dermal filler page lists the under-eye as one of five areas we treat. Every injection is placed by a board-certified dermatologist, and we use a cannula where possible, because a blunt cannula minimizes the vessel-damage risk of a standard sharp needle.
We confirm the product and the amount with you before treatment, and filler quantity is guaranteed. Under the eye, though, the more important number is often how little goes in.
The Tyndall effect, clumping and filler migration
Because under-eye skin is thin and translucent, filler placed too superficially can show through as a bluish tint, known as the Tyndall effect. Filler can also gather unevenly instead of spreading smoothly, or bulge when you smile.
That is usually what people mean when they search for under eye filler migration: a lump or puffiness that sits somewhere it was not meant to be. Depth, placement and amount are what prevent it, which is why the injector matters more than the product name.
If you have seen faces that look puffy rather than refreshed, I explain how that happens in why faces look overfilled. The under-eye is one of the first places it shows.
Not sure whether yours is a hollow, a bag or thin skin? Send a straight-on photo in daylight and tell me what bothers you.
Send a photo, get a planFiller, fat grafting under eyes, or a skin booster?
Filler is not the only way to treat a hollow, and it is not always the best one. These are the options I compare when someone asks about the under-eye.
| Option | How it works | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Hyaluronic acid filler | Adds volume straight away | Thin skin can show the Tyndall effect; amount and depth must be precise |
| Under eye fat grafting | Moves your own fat into the hollow | How much of the graft survives is hard to predict |
| Particle-type collagen stimulator (e.g. Sculptra) | Builds collagen gradually | In thin under-eye skin it can rarely leave palpable nodules |
| Rejuran HB+ skin booster | Polynucleotide supports the skin's own structure | Improves thin, dry skin and fine lines rather than adding volume |
Fat grafting under eyes can be an alternative, but the unpredictable graft survival makes the final result harder to control in such a small area. Sculptra creates natural volume elsewhere on the face, but under the eye I approach it very cautiously because of the nodule risk.
For skin that is thin and crepey rather than hollow, Rejuran HB+ works on the skin itself. Its salmon-derived polynucleotide helps restore a thinned dermis, and the added hyaluronic acid improves dryness and fine lines around the eyes. Four sessions at 2–3 week intervals are recommended.
Sometimes the honest answer is a combination: a small amount of filler for the groove, and a booster for the skin over it. You can see all our injectables on the fillers, anti-wrinkle injection and skin boosters page.
Korean under eye filler price, and how a Seoul visit works
For dermal filler at WELLS, the price is confirmed at your consultation. It depends on the areas, the amount and the product that suits them, and under the eye the amount is decided only after the dermatologist has examined you.
Prices at WELLS are listed in Korean won and exclude 10% VAT. The dermatologist confirms your plan and the final price before anything starts. If you want the wider picture of filler areas, technique and cost, my colleague's guide to Korean filler in Seoul covers it, so I won't repeat it here.
- WhatsApp: send your concern, a photo if you like, and your travel dates. We reply in English with options and available times.
- Consultation: a dermatologist examines your under-eye in person and confirms the product, the amount and the price.
- Treatment: filler is injected in the same clinic by the dermatologist, with a cannula where possible.
- Aftercare: you leave with the dermatologist's aftercare instructions and can reach us on WhatsApp after you fly home.

Consultations are available in English, and you can read about each of us on the doctors page. WELLS has been in Apgujeong since 2008, on the 8th floor of the Apgujeong Building, 842 Nonhyeon-ro, about five minutes on foot from Apgujeong Station Exit 3 on Line 3.
Tell us your dates in Seoul and which area worries you, and we will suggest a plan and an appointment time before you fly.
Ask about an under-eye planTiming under-eye filler around your flights
Filler shows its volume immediately, which makes it easier to fit into a short trip than treatments that need a series. Even so, I would not book it for the afternoon before a long-haul flight.
Leave a few days in Seoul afterwards, so the dermatologist can check anything that concerns you in person. The simplest rule is to send your flight dates on WhatsApp first, and the dermatologist will advise on timing before you book.
If a skin booster is part of the plan, remember it works over several visits rather than one. Tell us how often you can come to Seoul, and the dermatologist can plan the sessions around your trips.
Planning more than one area? Our article on forehead filler explains how we balance the upper face. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00 and Saturday 10:00–17:00, with lunch from 13:00 to 14:00; we are closed on Sundays and Korean public holidays. Directions are on the clinic and how to get here.

Individual results vary, and side effects are possible with any injectable. That is exactly why every under-eye treatment here starts with a dermatologist consultation, not a menu order.

Is Korean under eye filler different from filler at home?
It is not a special kind of gel. What matters is who injects it and how. At WELLS a board-certified dermatologist injects it, with a cannula where possible, and confirms the product and amount with you before treatment.
Can filler fix under-eye bags?
Filler treats hollows, not bags. If under-eye fat is pushing forward, adding volume on top can look heavier. The dermatologist checks the amount of under-eye fat before deciding whether filler suits you.
What is the Tyndall effect?
Because under-eye skin is thin and translucent, filler placed too close to the surface can show through as a bluish tint. Careful depth and conservative amounts are how we avoid it.
How much does under-eye filler cost at WELLS?
The price is confirmed at your consultation, because it depends on the amount and product that suit your under-eye. Prices are in Korean won, exclude 10% VAT, and are agreed before anything starts.
Is fat grafting under eyes a better option?
It can be an alternative, but how much of the grafted fat survives is hard to predict. For a small, delicate area, that makes the result harder to control than a conservative filler or skin booster plan.
How soon can I fly after under-eye filler?
Send your flight dates on WhatsApp and the dermatologist will advise on timing. Leaving a few days in Seoul after treatment is sensible, so any concern can be checked in person.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Every treatment carries possible side effects, which are explained at the consultation. Prices are in Korean won, excluding 10% VAT, and confirmed at your consultation. This article is general information from the clinic, not a diagnosis.
