Rejuran HB explained: what's in it, and how HB+ differs from Healer

What is Rejuran HB?

Rejuran HB is the name many people search when they have heard of Rejuran but keep seeing different versions on clinic menus. The short answer: it is a Rejuran formulation that adds hyaluronic acid and the local anesthetic lidocaine to the polynucleotide base. The version we use at WELLS is Rejuran HB+, sometimes written HB PLUS.

I'm Dr. Hyo Seop Ryu, a board-certified dermatologist (M.D., Ph.D.) and former assistant professor at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. This post is about the product itself: what is in it, how it differs from Rejuran Healer, and who it suits.

What's inside Rejuran HB+, ingredient by ingredient

Every Rejuran product starts from the same base: salmon-derived polynucleotide (PN), a DNA extract with high biocompatibility. What the HB+ formula adds on top is what makes it different.

• Polynucleotide (PN): improves the skin's internal environment and restores its structure, increasing elasticity in both epidermis and dermis, and smoothing fine lines and texture.
• Hyaluronic acid (HA): strengthens hydration and draws in surrounding moisture, helping tired, dry skin recover.
• Lidocaine: a local anesthetic built into the formula to make the injections more comfortable.

PN supports collagen production and helps shorten the skin's regeneration cycle. That is why Rejuran is described as regenerative rather than as a filler: it works on the condition of the skin, not on volume.

None of these ingredients help much if they land in the wrong layer. For the regenerative and hydrating effect, the product has to be placed accurately in the dermis, and careful manual injection also reduces vessel damage, which keeps pain and bruising down.

Rejuran HB vs Rejuran Healer: why WELLS uses the HB+ formula

Rejuran Healer is the original version most people have heard of, and it is the comparison point for HB+. In that comparison, the lidocaine in the HB+ formula cut post-injection pain by an average of 53% on the VAS scale.

Pain is not a small detail with Rejuran. It is injected by hand in many small points across the face, and a course means several visits. A formula that is easier to sit through makes it more realistic to complete the course.

The added hyaluronic acid matters for the other half of the goal. Rejuran is about regeneration and hydration together, and HB+ leans further into hydration. We explain dose by area and how we inject in our Rejuran Healer post, so I won't repeat that here.

Who Rejuran HB+ suits, and when I'd suggest something else

Rejuran HB+ is a treatment for skin quality. It suits people whose main complaint is how the skin looks and feels, rather than the shape of the face.

• Dull, dehydrated skin that feels tight from the inside
• Fine lines and rough texture
• Skin that looks tired after sun, dry air or outdoor activity, where topical products alone no longer seem enough

It is not the right tool for everything. If you have lost volume in the cheeks or under the eyes, Rejuran will not replace it; dermal fillers or collagen-stimulating treatments are the conversation to have. For expression lines, botox works on the muscle, which Rejuran does not.

Age also shapes the plan. Rejuran can suit people in their 20s and people in their 70s, but by the 50s and 60s, a skin booster alone has limits, and I usually suggest pairing it with a lifting treatment the dermatologist chooses at consultation.

In the 30s, when wrinkles are still mild, Rejuran HB+ on its own at regular intervals is a reasonable choice. From the 40s and 50s, when pores and fine lines join the dryness, I often suggest mixing it with skin botox as Rejuran Tox, which I cover below.

What a course of Rejuran HB+ looks like

For optimal results, we generally recommend four sessions at 2–3 week intervals. Each session starts with the dermatologist reviewing your skin thickness, elasticity and signs of ageing, which is how the volume and number of sessions are planned.

• Early sessions: the lidocaine in the formula lets you start comfortably, and small bumps (embo marks) appear where the product was placed.
• Between sessions: embo marks usually settle within 2–3 days on average, though they can fade in a day or last about five days. Fading quickly does not mean the product is gone.
• Later sessions: repeated treatment activates the skin's own regenerative ability, so inner dryness settles and elasticity builds up.

If you are visiting Seoul, a four-session course usually means planning return trips or combining it with other treatments. Tell us your dates and the dermatologist will advise on timing; individual results vary, and side effects are possible.

Rejuran HB+ inside Rejuran Tox

At WELLS, Rejuran HB+ is also the base of Rejuran Tox, a protocol developed at the clinic. It combines Rejuran HB+ (3 mL) with skin botox microdroplet injections in one session.

The two work at different levels. Rejuran HB+ works on regeneration, moisture and elasticity underneath; skin botox smooths fine lines, refines pores and reduces excess oiliness on the surface, without affecting normal muscle movement.

Rejuran Tox is listed from ₩913,000 (VAT excluded). Rejuran HB+ on its own is priced at consultation, once the dermatologist has decided the volume for your face.

How we keep Rejuran HB+ genuine, and what to ask any clinic

However low the price, an unverified or non-genuine product carries a real risk of side effects. So we use a three-part check: the new product is opened in front of you, the full amount is used transparently, and you receive an authenticity card afterwards.

• Is it Rejuran HB+, Rejuran Healer, or another product?
• Who injects it, and is it done by hand into the dermis?
• How much product is planned for your face?
• Will the product be opened in front of you?
• How many sessions, and at what interval?
