Rejuran Healer explained: what it does, and how we inject it

What is Rejuran Healer, and what does it actually do?

Most people who ask me about Rejuran Healer are not chasing a dramatic change. They are tired of skin that feels tight by mid-afternoon, looks dull in photographs, and no longer responds to the serums that used to work.

Rejuran is the best known of the skin boosters — treatments that place a substance directly into the dermis rather than on top of it. The active ingredient is polynucleotide (PN), a purified salmon DNA fragment with high biocompatibility.

Two things happen when PN is placed correctly. It supports the skin's own regeneration and collagen production, and it improves the skin's capacity to hold water — which is why the first thing patients usually report is that the inner dryness and the tight feeling have eased.

Rejuran Healer vs Rejuran HB+: what we actually use at WELLS

Healer is the original formulation, and it is the reference point most people search for. At WELLS we use Rejuran HB+, which adds hyaluronic acid and lidocaine to the polynucleotide base.

The hyaluronic acid strengthens the hydration side of the treatment. The lidocaine is the reason most patients describe the session as manageable rather than something to dread — the manufacturer's VAS data show pain reduced by an average of 53% compared with Rejuran Healer.

I still explain Healer to patients because it is the name they arrive with. But when the same PN can be delivered with better hydration and considerably less discomfort, there is no clinical argument for choosing the harder version.

Who suits a Rejuran treatment — and who does not

Rejuran is one of the few treatments I recommend almost regardless of age. Skin can be dry and depleted at 25 or at 70, and giving it growth signals helps in both cases.

It suits you well if your main complaints are inner dryness, rough texture, dullness, and fine lines around the eyes and cheeks. It also suits anyone nervous about starting — the session is short and there is no incision.

• Skin that feels tight and dehydrated no matter what you apply
• Dull, tired-looking tone after sun exposure or travel
• Fine lines and uneven texture across the cheeks
• First-time patients who want something reversible and gradual

Where I steer people elsewhere: if the real concern is a dropped jawline or clear sagging, a skin booster will not lift it. That is a job for the energy-based treatments in our anti-aging and lifting category. And if the problem is a deep depressed scar, Rejuran alone will not fill it.

How much Rejuran do you need? Dose by area

This is the question that decides whether you are happy three weeks later. Spread too little product over too large an area and you will not see the glow that Rejuran is known for.

The guidance I give in the consultation room:

• Eye area plus the front cheeks (the butterfly zone): at least 2 cc
• Including the forehead: at least 3 cc
• A thorough full-face treatment: at least 4 cc

Underdosing is the most common reason a Rejuran treatment disappoints. I would rather a patient does one properly dosed session than three thin ones spread across the whole face.

How we inject it: by hand, into the dermis

For Rejuran's regenerative and hydrating effects to work, the product has to sit in the dermis. Not above it, not below it.

An injector gun is faster and easier on the doctor. We inject by hand instead, point by point, because manual injection lets us change depth and spacing as the skin changes across the face — thin under the eyes, thicker on the cheeks. It also lets us work around vessels, which keeps bruising down.

Before anything is opened, a board-certified dermatologist examines your skin thickness, elasticity and degree of aging, and sets the volume and the number of sessions from that. At WELLS the consultation, the diagnosis and the injection are all done by the dermatologist.

Embo marks, and what the first weeks look like

Immediately after the injection you will see small raised bumps across the treated area. These are the embo marks, and they are simply the product sitting where it was placed.

Embo marks usually settle within two to three days. Depending on skin thickness and how fast you absorb, they can disappear within a day or linger around five. All of that is within the normal range.

Two worries come up constantly, so let me answer both. If the marks vanish in a day, the product has not gone anywhere — absorption speed varies, and fast fading is not a failure. If they last three days, that is not a side effect.

The schedule

For the Rejuran HB+ protocol we recommend four sessions at two to three week intervals. The early sessions are about getting comfortable and settling the inner dryness; with each repeat, the skin's own regenerative capacity is doing more of the work and elasticity builds.

Individual results vary, and side effects are possible with any injectable — that is why every plan starts with a consultation, not with a price list.

Rejuran plus skin botox: why we often combine them

Rejuran on its own regenerates and hydrates, but it does not do much for an enlarged pore in the first week. Skin botox on its own tightens the surface, but it does nothing for inner dryness. Each leaves a gap the other fills.

Skin botox — sometimes called dermatoxin — is botulinum toxin diluted and injected shallowly into the skin rather than deep into muscle. It softens fine lines, relaxes the arrector pili muscle so pores look tighter, and can calm the small nerves around vessels that contribute to flushing. Because it does not act on the muscles of expression, it can be used across the whole face without a stiff look.

Both products go into the same layer, so they can be delivered in one session. That is our Rejuran Tox protocol: Rejuran HB+ 3 cc with micro-dosed toxin, from ₩913,000 (VAT excluded) with Nabota, or ₩1,089,000 (VAT excluded) with BOTOX.

One session, one round of needles, two mechanisms. For patients flying in for a short trip, that efficiency matters.

Genuine product, and what to ask any clinic

An injectable is only as good as what is in the syringe. A low price means very little if you cannot confirm what was used.
