Juvelook Korea: what people fly in for, and what it treats

Most people who search Juvelook Korea have already decided the dents left by old acne are worth a trip. The worry is whether one visit to Seoul can do anything useful, and whether the clinic will tell them the truth about their scars.

I am Dr. Won Sin Lee, a board-certified dermatologist trained at Asan Medical Center in Seoul and one of the chief directors at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong. I will keep this practical: what Juvelook is used for here, how it compares with Sculptra, and how a visit fits around your flights.

Juvelook is PLA combined with hyaluronic acid, and it is KFDA-approved. On our acne scar and pore treatment page it has one job: it fills depressed scars immediately while stimulating collagen.

Juvelook vs Sculptra: two collagen stimulators, two different jobs

Juvelook vs Sculptra is a fair comparison, because both belong to the family of injectables that work by prompting your own collagen. PLA-type materials are generally used this way because the body responds to them gradually, which is slower than a filler that simply occupies space.

Where they differ at WELLS is the problem they are used for. Juvelook goes into depressed scars. Sculptra is used for volume and contour, and our Sculptra Lifting protocol places it at the temples and upper face to support tissue along the face's own lifting vectors.

Dr. Choi, Dr. Ryu and I completed Handok's Sculptra hands-on training program, so the choice between the two is made on your face, not on which product we happen to prefer.

One caution applies to both. Collagen-stimulating injectables can, rarely, form small lumps called nodules. Particle-type injectables carry more of that risk in thin, delicate skin such as the under-eye area, which is why placement is a dermatologist's decision, made after examining the skin.

Can Juvelook and laser fit into one trip to Seoul?

Acne scars are rarely one type. Shallow, broad scars, narrow deep ones and rough porous skin often sit on the same cheek, so our scar plans combine tools rather than relying on one injection.

• Fractional Picosecond Laser Treatment creates optical breakdown (LIOB) inside the dermis with almost no heat damage to the surface. There is no oozing and no artificial skin dressing.
• Juvelook fills the depressed scars and stimulates collagen.
• Mosaic fractional laser, microneedle RF, Aquapeel and the Clarity dual laser are added depending on scar type and pore condition.

For a traveller, the useful number is recovery. After Fractional Picosecond Laser Treatment, any redness usually clears in 3–4 days, so if laser is in your plan, leave room between treatment and important days at home.

The immediate change after Juvelook is not the end state either, because the collagen part is gradual. We review results with you using a dermatoscope rather than vague language, and the dermatologist will tell you honestly what can be done within the days you have in Seoul.

A Juvelook treatment in Korea at WELLS follows the same order every time: plan by message, examine in person, then treat. You can do all of it in English, without a translator.

• At the clinic: a board-certified dermatologist examines your scars, decides whether Juvelook, laser or both fit, and confirms the plan and the price before anything starts.
• Treatment: consultation, diagnosis and treatment are all done by a dermatologist, on the same floor.
• After you fly home: you can reach us on WhatsApp with questions about healing or your next visit.

Tell us your flight dates in your first message. The dermatologist will advise on timing, and if your scars need more than one session, we plan them around the trips you can actually make.

Juvelook cost Korea: what decides the price

The Juvelook Korea price at WELLS is confirmed at your consultation. That is not evasion; how much a face needs depends on how many scars there are, how deep they sit, and whether laser belongs in the same plan.

All our prices are in Korean won and exclude 10% VAT, and the final figure is agreed with you before treatment. If you are comparing Juvelook cost in Korea between clinics, ask each one what is included, who injects, and whether laser work is priced separately.

When I would not start with Juvelook

Part of a good consultation is saying no to the product the patient came in asking for. These are the cases where I would steer you elsewhere first.

• Active, inflamed acne. Treat the breakouts first with personalized acne treatment; injecting into skin that is still breaking out is the wrong order.
• Enlarged pores on their own. Our pore reduction treatment uses Fractional Picosecond Laser Treatment so pores tighten from underneath.
• Redness and visible capillaries. Those are vascular problems, handled with vascular lasers on our rosacea and broken capillaries page.
• Sagging or loss of contour. That is a lifting or Sculptra question, not a scar question.

Getting to WELLS for Juvelook in Seoul

WELLS has been in Apgujeong since 2008. We are on the 8th floor of the Apgujeong Building, 842 Nonhyeon-ro, Gangnam-gu, about five minutes on foot from Apgujeong Station Exit 3 on Line 3; directions are on the clinic page.

We are open Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00 and Saturday 10:00–17:00, with lunch from 13:00 to 14:00, closed Sundays and Korean public holidays. Consultations are available in English.

My training was at Asan Medical Center, where I completed my residency and board certification in dermatology and where I am an adjunct professor. An injection into scarred skin is a decision about depth and placement, and at WELLS it is always made by a dermatologist.
