Rejuran HB Seoul guide for dry, damaged skin: what I told the press

Dr. Hyo Seop Ryu on Rejuran HB in Seoul for skin left dry and irritated by wind and sun, from his September 2025 press interview.

Is a Rejuran HB Seoul treatment worth it for dry, irritated skin?

Hello, I'm Dr. Hyo Seop Ryu, a board-certified dermatologist (M.D., Ph.D.) and Chief Director at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul. I worked as a clinical instructor and then assistant professor of dermatology at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital before joining WELLS. Patients who fly in often ask me whether a Rejuran HB Seoul visit is the right fix for skin that feels tight, rough and reactive after a dry season.

My short answer: for a weakened barrier and an oil-moisture balance that has gone off, a polynucleotide skin booster is one of the quicker, more direct options I can offer. At WELLS we use Rejuran HB+, which adds hyaluronic acid and the local anesthetic lidocaine to the polynucleotide base.

Whether it suits you depends on the face in front of me. Skin thickness, elasticity and how much damage is there all change the plan, so I will walk you through how we decide.

What I told Lives News about dry-season skin damage

In September 2025 I spoke to Lives News for an article on autumn skin care. The cool, dry wind that arrives in Seoul after summer feels good, but for skin it pulls moisture out and lowers firmness at the same time. Sun damage built up over summer is still there underneath.

The point I made in that interview was simple. When the barrier has been damaged by dry wind and UV, home care alone often struggles to bring back hydration, regeneration and fine-line control together. That is the moment to have a dermatologist look at your skin and build a plan around its current state.

I also explained why I reach for a polynucleotide booster first in that situation. It is highly compatible with the body, and it supports the skin's own cell regeneration and collagen production. Because it supplies material the skin uses for repair, it can shorten the recovery process for skin that has been stressed.

What is in Rejuran HB+, and why does it help a damaged barrier?

Rejuran HB+ is a salmon-derived polynucleotide (PN) with hyaluronic acid and lidocaine. PN improves the skin's internal environment and structure. It adds elasticity in the epidermis and dermis, smooths fine lines and texture, and improves hydration.

Why does that matter for dry skin? A skin booster like this is injected directly into the skin rather than sitting on the surface like a cream. For a barrier that has been worn down by wind and sun, that is the difference between adding moisture from the outside and supporting the skin's own repair from within.

The added hyaluronic acid boosts hydration further, which is exactly what dry, flaky skin is missing. In the interview I described it as drawing moisture in around the injection points while the PN works on regeneration.

What does the lidocaine change?

Comfort. Lidocaine in the formula cut post-injection pain by an average of 53% on the VAS scale compared with Rejuran Healer. That is one reason HB+ has become the version many patients prefer, especially for sensitive areas.

  • Polynucleotide (PN): supports regeneration, elasticity and texture
  • Hyaluronic acid: extra hydration for dry, tight skin
  • Lidocaine: less discomfort after injection than Rejuran Healer

If you want the product side in more depth, my colleague's post on what Rejuran HB contains and how it differs from Healer covers it. Here I'll stay with how we use it for damaged skin.

How do we tailor Rejuran HB in Seoul to your skin?

Even a booster with a good safety profile needs to be adjusted to the person. Skin differs in natural elasticity and thickness, and that changes how much product goes in at once, how many injection points we use and the injection method.

I told Lives News that getting these right is how side effects are avoided. Before treatment I assess the skin's condition and the degree of aging, estimate the amount and number of sessions, and then set injection depth and spacing according to texture and thickness.

Depth and spacing are set by the dermatologist for each area.

At WELLS, every injection is placed by a board-certified dermatologist with genuine products. The consultation, the diagnosis and the treatment are done by the same specialist, which is the part I would ask any clinic about.

Send a daylight photo without makeup and tell me how your skin feels right now. I'll tell you whether Rejuran HB+ fits, and how we would set it up.

Send a photo, get a booster plan

How many sessions of Rejuran HB+ do you need, and how does that fit a trip?

For Rejuran HB+, four sessions at 2–3 week intervals are recommended. That is the course I discuss with patients who live in Seoul.

Visitors rarely stay that long, so we talk about it honestly. Some patients plan two trips, some start the course here and continue it at home with their own dermatologist, and some simply want one session before a return flight. Tell us your dates and the dermatologist will advise on timing around your flights.

If you can only manage one Rejuran HB Seoul session, it is still worth discussing. I will tell you plainly what one session can and cannot do for your skin, so you can decide whether to start now or wait until you can plan a full course.

The price for Rejuran HB+ is confirmed at your consultation. All WELLS prices are in Korean won and exclude 10% VAT, and the final number is confirmed before anything starts.

Can Rejuran HB+ be paired with a skin smoothing injection?

In the same interview I mentioned combining Rejuran with a second injection for pores and fine lines. At WELLS that combination is our Rejuran Tox protocol: Rejuran HB+ (3 cc) works on regeneration, moisture and elasticity underneath, and a skin smoothing injection (3 cc) works on fine lines and pores at the surface.

OptionPrice
With Korean-made microdroplet injections₩913,000 (VAT excluded)
With US-made microdroplet injections₩1,089,000 (VAT excluded)

Both are done in one visit, and the dose is confirmed by your dermatologist. It is not for everyone. If your main problem is dryness and a sore barrier, I often start with Rejuran HB+ alone.

When patients ask me which to choose, I look at where the problem sits. Dryness, tightness and a rough feel point to the booster alone. Visible pores, oiliness and fine lines around the eyes and cheeks are where the combination earns its place.
