What does a dermatologist in Seoul cost for sun-aged skin?

Hello, I'm Dr. Hyo Seop Ryu, a board-certified dermatologist and Chief Director at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul. Before WELLS, I was an assistant professor at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and a visiting professor at a clinic in Dubai.

Visitors who search for dermatologist Seoul price usually want two things: a real number in won, and a sense of what that number buys. After a summer outdoors, the question is often about lines, loss of firmness and spots that sunscreen did not prevent.

Here is the direct answer. At WELLS, every listed price is in Korean won and excludes 10% VAT, and the dermatologist confirms the plan and final price at consultation, before anything starts. Lifting starts from ₩700,000 for Onda MAX, and Thermage MAX is ₩3,465,000 for 600 shots.

What I told iNews24 about tanned skin

In July 2019 I spoke to iNews24 (아이뉴스24) for a summer feature asking whether a bronzed tan really means healthy skin. It does not. The ultraviolet light that darkens skin speeds up skin ageing, causes pigmentation and is linked to a higher risk of skin cancer.

Some sun is useful, because it helps the body make vitamin D. Too much of it is the problem. So the focus of summer skin care should be avoiding excess UV, not getting a deeper colour.

The feature also noted that July and August bring many enquiries about anti-aging treatment, and that the most asked-about treatment was Thermage FLX. Prevention first: the summer sun advice that still applies

The advice I gave in that interview is simple and has not changed. It is worth following on any trip to Seoul in summer.

• Stay out of the strongest sun between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. where you can.
• Wear sunscreen outdoors and reapply it every one to two hours.
• Use UV-blocking sunglasses, a hat or a parasol.
• If skin turns red and hot after a day outside, cool it with a cold, damp towel.
• If blisters form and the symptoms are severe, see a doctor, because blisters carry a risk of secondary infection.

Prevention has a limit, though. Pigmentation and wrinkles that are already there will not improve just because you avoid the sun now. If your skin already makes you look older than you feel, that is when a dermatologist can help with treatment.

Which treatment fits which sun-aged skin?

Sun-aged skin rarely has one problem. Lines, loss of firmness, a softer jawline and spots often show up together, and each sits in a different layer. That is why the price depends on the diagnosis, not on a menu.

• Loose skin on the cheeks, jawline and neck, with fine lines: Thermage MAX, which works from the epidermis to the dermis.
• Sagging along the jawline and lower face: Ultherapy Prime FIT, which works from the subcutis to the SMAS.
• A soft jawline or double chin, keeping cheek volume: Onda MAX, which works from the dermis to the fat layer.
• Heavy eyelids or a dropped brow: 3X Upper Face Lifting.
• Melasma or pigment that keeps returning: MELA Triple Toning.

Sometimes the right plan is a single treatment, and sometimes it is two that work on different layers. I would rather recommend the one treatment you need than two you don't. That is the main reason a photo and a short consultation come before any quote.

What about spots and uneven tone after the sun?

Why the same price can buy different treatments

Two quotes with the same number can be very different treatments. Before comparing dermatologist Seoul price figures between clinics, check who treats you, whether the tip is genuine, and what is included.
