Sculptra Korea: How to Check Genuine Product and a Full Dose

Before Sculptra in Korea, check two things: is the vial genuine, and is the full dose used? Dr. Ryu explains why, and when results appear.

Sculptra Korea: what to check first

Hello, I'm Dr. Hyo Seop Ryu, a board-certified dermatologist and Chief Director at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul. Before WELLS I was an assistant professor at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital.

Readers planning Sculptra in Korea usually ask me one thing first: when will I see a result? It is a fair question, but I always answer it together with two checks that matter more. Is the Sculptra genuine, and is the full dose being used?

I made this point to Medical Today (메디컬투데이) in September 2022, in an article headlined 'Sculptra: confirming genuine product and full dose before treatment is essential'. This post explains what I meant for people flying in from abroad.

In short: Sculptra in Korea is widely available, and the product itself is the same one used elsewhere. What differs from clinic to clinic is how it is sourced, how much of it goes into your face and who holds the needle. Those three things decide more of your result than the city you are in.

How Sculptra works, and why results take time

Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid, a collagen stimulator. It is injected into the skin and then prompts your own tissue to produce collagen, so firmness and volume improve gradually rather than on the day.

That is why the 'when' question has a slow answer. The particles are absorbed over time while new collagen forms, and the change develops over the following months rather than all at once. On our Sculptra Lifting page we describe it exactly that way.

In the 2022 interview I compared this with filler. A filler and Sculptra both restore volume, but Sculptra shows its effect more slowly. Because it builds your own collagen instead of placing a foreign gel, the change looks natural, and it can help elasticity and fine lines as well as volume.

So when people ask me for a Sculptra results timeline, I give a shape rather than a date. You leave Seoul with little visible change, the face firms and fills gradually as collagen forms, and the dermatologist decides whether a further session is useful based on how your skin responds. Nobody should promise you a fixed week.

Why genuine Sculptra matters in Korea

Sculptra arrives as a powder in a vial and is reconstituted before injection. That preparation step is where problems can start if the product is not genuine or has been handled poorly. In my Medical Tribune interview a few months later I called genuine product the most basic rule for avoiding infection or changes in the material.

At WELLS, every Sculptra vial is guaranteed genuine. You can ask to see the vial and box before treatment.

Dr. Choi, Dr. Lee and I all completed Handok's Sculptra hands-on training program. That is how we learned the preparation and technique the manufacturer teaches, and it is why genuine Sculptra is the starting point of every plan rather than an optional upgrade.

What does 'full dose' mean for Sculptra?

Because Sculptra is mixed before use, the dilution and the amount actually injected both change the result. In the article I warned that if the right amount is not used with the right technique, nodules can form under the skin.

The right amount is also not the same everywhere. Cheeks, temples and the folds beside the mouth each take a different quantity, which is why a dermatologist has to examine the area and decide rather than apply one formula. WELLS lists a genuine full vial of Sculptra as one of its core commitments.

A Sculptra full vial matters for a practical reason. If a vial is split across patients or stretched with extra dilution, the amount of active material reaching your face drops, and the result can fall short even when the injection itself looks the same. Asking the question directly is perfectly normal.

  • Ask whether a whole vial is used for your session
  • Ask how the amount is divided between areas
  • Ask who prepares and who injects the product
  • Ask how your face will be assessed before planning

Sculptra nodules are the complication people worry about most, and they are largely about technique: the right depth, the right spread and the right amount for each area. Massage and aftercare instructions also matter, and your dermatologist explains them before you leave the clinic.

How WELLS plans Sculptra for overseas patients

Dr. Ryu consulting a patient about Sculptra Korea treatment at WELLS Clinic, Apgujeong
Planning starts with a dermatologist consultation.

Every plan starts with a consultation with a dermatologist and a 3D analysis of the face. For many people we recommend our own Sculptra Lifting technique, which places Sculptra at the temples and upper face to support tissue upward instead of filling the area that sags.

One session of Sculptra Lifting is listed at ₩1,320,000 (VAT excluded). The dermatologist tells you at consultation whether one session is enough. For conventional Sculptra treatment, the price is confirmed at consultation.

Sculptra also combines with other treatments. Our Sculptra page notes that combined with a thread lift it can give a longer-lasting result, and lifting devices such as Ultherapy or Thermage act on different layers, so the dermatologist plans order and timing.

Who should consider Sculptra, and who should wait

Sculptra suits people whose main concern is lost volume or support: hollow temples, a flattened upper face, a sagging mid-face or a jawline that has softened. Those are exactly the cases we list on our Sculptra Lifting page.

It suits people less well when they want an instant change for an event a few days away, or when the real problem is surface texture or scarring. In those cases another treatment may be the better first step, and I would rather say so at consultation than inject a product that cannot do the job.

If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or have had other injectables in the same area, mention it in your first message. The dermatologist takes that into account before recommending anything.

Timing your Sculptra Korea trip

Because results build after you leave, plan the trip around the consultation and the injection, not around seeing the final change in Seoul. Tell us your dates and we will say whether one visit is realistic or whether a return trip makes sense.

A practical tip: arrive with the questions from this post written down, and ask them in the consultation before anything is prepared. Our dermatologists consult in English, and the answers to genuine product, dose and depth should take a few minutes, not a sales pitch.

If your main question is cost, our guide to what decides the Sculptra Korea price explains how sessions and trips shape the total. If you are weighing it against a hyaluronic acid filler, how PLLA filler builds volume is a useful next read.

Send your travel dates and a daylight photo. We will reply with a suggested plan and the listed price that applies.

Questions people ask

Before you message us

Is Sculptra in Korea genuine?

At WELLS, every Sculptra vial is guaranteed genuine, and you can ask to see the vial and box before treatment. Elsewhere, ask the same question before you book.

When will I see results from Sculptra?

Sculptra stimulates your own collagen, so the result develops gradually over the following months rather than all at once. Your dermatologist explains the expected timeline at consultation.

Can Sculptra cause lumps?

Nodules can form if the dose or technique is wrong, which is why the amount for each area and the injector's training matter.

How much is Sculptra Lifting at WELLS?

One session is listed at ₩1,320,000 (VAT excluded). Whether one session is enough is decided at consultation.

Results and recovery vary by individual. Every treatment carries possible side effects, which are explained at the consultation. Prices are in Korean won, excluding 10% VAT, and confirmed at your consultation. This article is general information from the clinic, not a diagnosis.
