Is There a Korean Version of Sculptra? What Seoul Clinics Actually Use
Searching for a Korean version of Sculptra? Dr. Lee explains what Seoul clinics use, how Juvelook differs, and why summer is a fine time to start.

Is there a Korean version of Sculptra?
Hello, I'm Dr. Won Sin Lee, a board-certified dermatologist and Chief Director at WELLS Clinic in Apgujeong, Seoul. I completed my dermatology residency and board certification at Asan Medical Center, where I am an adjunct professor.
Patients abroad often ask me whether there is a Korean version of Sculptra, usually hoping for something similar at a lower price. It is a reasonable question, and the answer has two parts.
First, the Sculptra used in Korea is Sculptra itself, not a local copy. At WELLS every vial is genuine, and our dermatologists trained on it through Handok's Sculptra hands-on program. Second, the product people usually mean when they say 'Korean version of Sculptra' is Juvelook, which works on a related principle but does a different job.
In June 2021 I spoke with Daily Hankook (데일리한국) for an article on summer skin care in which Sculptra was the clinic treatment we discussed. I'll use the points from that interview to explain both parts.
If you came here looking for a Sculptra alternative in Korea, the honest summary is this: there are related products, but none of them is a cheaper copy that does the same thing. The useful question is which product matches your concern.
What Sculptra is, in plain terms
Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), injected into the skin to restore volume and help collagen regenerate. Rather than filling space with a gel, it prompts your own tissue to build collagen, so the change appears gradually.
Because it works through your own collagen, Sculptra is chosen when the face needs structure back: hollow temples, a flattening upper face, a mid-face that has started to slide. It is less suited to a fine surface problem, which is where the confusion with other products usually begins.
In the 2021 interview I said that the duration and effect of Sculptra can differ depending on the doctor's experience and the method used. That is the main reason I'm cautious about anything sold as a cheaper equivalent: the product is only half the result.
At WELLS we use Sculptra in two ways. Conventional Sculptra treatment restores volume and contour, and our own Sculptra Lifting places it at the temples and upper face to support tissue upward. One session of Sculptra Lifting is listed at ₩1,320,000 (VAT excluded).
Juvelook: the product called the Korean version of Sculptra
Juvelook is the name most often given when people search for a Korean version of Sculptra. On our treatment page we describe it as a PLA combined with hyaluronic acid, approved by the Korean FDA (KFDA), which fills depressed scars immediately while stimulating collagen.
A Korean collagen stimulator such as Juvelook shares the general idea of prompting collagen, which is why the two names travel together online. The difference lies in what each one is designed to correct and where it is placed.
| Sculptra | Juvelook | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Poly-L-lactic acid | PLA with hyaluronic acid |
| Listed at WELLS for | Volume, contour and lifting | Depressed acne scars |
| Where to read more | Sculptra and Sculptra Lifting pages | Acne scar and pore page |
So Juvelook is not a substitute you can swap in for the same result. If your concern is hollow temples or a softening contour, Sculptra is the tool. If your concern is scarring, Juvelook on our acne scar and pore treatment page is the closer fit.
My colleague Dr. Ryu has written a detailed comparison of depth and particle in our Juvelook Korea guide, if you would like the technical side.
Not sure whether you need Sculptra or Juvelook? Send a daylight photo and your dates, and a dermatologist will tell you which fits.
Ask which one I needHow to check you are getting the real thing
In the interview I told readers to check three things before any Sculptra treatment, and they apply equally to visitors from abroad.
Genuine Sculptra in Korea is easy to confirm if you ask at the right moment: before the product is prepared, not after. A clinic that is confident in its supply will show you the vial without hesitation.
- Is it performed by a board-certified dermatologist with solid clinical experience?
- Is the product genuine? Ask to see the vial and box.
- Is the correct dose used, rather than a reduced amount?
At WELLS a dermatologist consults and treats, every Sculptra vial is guaranteed genuine, and a genuine full vial of Sculptra is one of our stated commitments. We also analyze the face in 3D before planning.

Why summer is a reasonable time to start
The Daily Hankook article was about preparing skin for summer. Strong UV, heat, humidity and long hours of air conditioning all stress the skin, and tired skin can lose its balance and become sensitive or break out.
The everyday advice I gave then still holds. Cleanse thoroughly when sweat and oil increase, and wash soon after coming indoors. Use lukewarm water rather than hot water to avoid encouraging pores to widen, and don't skip hydration just because the weather feels heavy.
Sculptra in summer also suits the way many people travel. A summer holiday in Seoul gives you time for a consultation and treatment, and the gradual collagen change then unfolds back home over the cooler months that follow.
One more practical point for summer visitors: plan sightseeing, not saunas, for the days right after an injection, and keep a hat and sunscreen in your bag. Your dermatologist will give you the specific aftercare for your treatment before you leave the clinic, including what to avoid and when to get in touch if anything feels unusual.
Clinic treatment can sit alongside that routine. Because Sculptra builds collagen gradually, starting in early summer means the change develops through the following months, and an injectable is not the kind of treatment that leaves the surface raw in strong sun. Sun protection still matters after any procedure, and your dermatologist explains aftercare before you leave.

Planning a summer visit to Seoul
Send your dates and a photo first. We reply with whether Sculptra, Sculptra Lifting or Juvelook suits your concern, the listed price where one exists, and how many visits to allow.
If you have had other injectables recently, or are planning lasers on the same trip, mention it in your first message. The dermatologist will place the steps in a sensible order so one treatment does not get in the way of another, and will tell you honestly if something is better left for a later visit.
Our clinic is in Apgujeong, about five minutes on foot from Exit 3 of Apgujeong Station on Line 3, so it fits easily into a city itinerary. Consultations are available in English.
In Seoul you meet a dermatologist for consultation and 3D analysis, the plan is confirmed, and treatment follows. If cost is your main concern, our guide to what decides the Sculptra Korea price explains sessions and trips.
Tell us your summer dates in Seoul and what you would like to change. We'll suggest a plan before you book flights.
